Are you passionate about quality and automation, and motivated by building reliable software that makes a meaningful impact on global healthcare?Do you enjoy collaborating with cross‑functional teams and using modern testing tools to continuously improve product quality and performance?

About our Team:

Elsevier Health applies innovation, facilitates insights, and helps drive more informed decision‑making for our customers across global health. We support health providers by providing accessible, trusted evidence‑based information; prepare medical and nursing students with effective tools and resources; provide insights that help clinicians improve patient outcomes; and support a more personalized and localized healthcare experience. All for the benefit of every patient.

About the Role:

This role focuses on designing, developing, and maintaining automated testing solutions that support high‑quality, scalable, and accessible products. You will collaborate with cross‑functional partners to translate product needs into effective automation strategies, strengthen test coverage across systems and APIs, and contribute to reliable and inclusive software delivery. The role values collaboration, continuous improvement, and thoughtful automation practices that support both technical excellence and user needs.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead and support quality engineering practices across delivery lanes to ensure reliable releases and reduce rework through early testing and automation.
  • Design and maintain scalable automated test solutions, focusing on end‑to‑end (E2E) testing using modern frameworks such as Playwright.
  • Collaborate with engineering and product partners to define quality strategies, test coverage expectations, and quality gates aligned with demos and releases.
  • Validate features at the story level before integration to enable early defect detection and smoother delivery.
  • Ensure cross‑team dependencies are properly tested to support predictable and consistent delivery outcomes.
  • Integrate quality practices into the SDLC, including CI/CD pipelines, defect prevention, and test data management.
  • Continuously improve testing processes and automation to strengthen overall product quality.
  • Mentor and guide engineers on quality best practices, promoting a culture of ownership, accountability, and engineering excellence.
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience in Quality Engineering or QA Test Engineering within agile development environments.
  • Hands‑on experience designing, building, and maintaining end‑to‑end (E2E) automated testing frameworks, preferably using Playwright.
  • Strong ability to define and execute test strategies across multiple teams or delivery lanes.
  • Experience testing APIs and microservices, including REST services, integration testing, and contract validation.
  • Familiarity with at least one programming language; like JavaScript or TypeScript preferred. Java or Python also acceptable.
  • Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions) and applying quality gates to support release confidence.
  • Solid understanding of shift‑left testing practices, including unit, integration, and story‑level validation.
  • Experience supporting demo readiness and release validation in coordinated, multi‑team environments.
  • Ability to identify quality risks early and proactively drive mitigation efforts across teams.
  • Experience mentoring or supporting other engineers and influencing quality practices beyond an individual team.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with attention to detail and a focus on reducing rework.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
