Formación

About the position

The Project Engineer is responsible for supporting the planning, execution, and analysis of engineering tasks on PV and BESS projects. This role involves coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, analyzing project data, and ensuring that projects meet technical, financial, and schedule objectives. We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Project Engineer with a strong technical background in Electrical Engineering (preferred), specializing in photovoltaic (PV) utility-scale power plants and comprehensive knowledge of Mexican photovoltaic regulations. The Project Engineer will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing the technical aspects of PV power plant projects from conception to completion, ensuring compliance with all applicable Mexican standards and regulations. This role requires a proactive individual with strong project management skills and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver projects on time and within budget. .

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define project scope, objectives, and technical requirements.
  • Prepare and review engineering designs and layouts for photovoltaic power plants, ensuring compliance with Mexican standards and regulations.
  • Assess site feasibility through analysis of environmental, topographical, geological, and hydrological studies.
  • Specify and review third-party site assessments to inform project design and execution.
  • Use software tools such as PVsyst and other modeling platforms to simulate energy production and system performance.
  • Develop and optimize renewable energy projects, including site layout, equipment selection, and production simulations for both greenfield and brownfield developments.
  • Design and analyze earthworks and drainage systems for PV plants, ensuring effective land use and water management.
  • Support site assessments throughout the project lifecycle—from development to construction and operation.
  • Ensure project activities meet national regulatory requirements and industry standards for photovoltaic systems.
  • Coordinate with regulatory authorities to obtain required permits and address changes that may affect project timelines.
  • Supervise engineering activities during construction, ensuring alignment with technical, environmental, and safety standards.
  • Liaise with contractors and suppliers to verify adherence to design specifications, schedules, and budgets.
  • Conduct site inspections to monitor construction progress and ensure quality control.
  • Prepare and manage technical documentation, reports, and updates for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Track and document changes to design or schedules and process technical change requests as needed.
  • Implement quality control measures and risk mitigation plans to ensure project reliability and safety.
  • Conduct root cause analyses to identify and address defects, ensuring corrective and preventive measures are validated.
  • Act as a technical liaison between clients, contractors, and vendors to facilitate project coordination.
  • Work closely with procurement and logistics teams to secure necessary materials and equipment.
  • Experience with BESS (Battery Energy Storage Systems) in a similar capacity will be considered a strong asset.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Proficient in English and Spanish, both written and spoken.
  • Office-based with occasional travel to project sites as required.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
