Ford is seeking a Powertrain Manufacturing Engineer in Chihuahua, Mexico to bridge product design and production. You will lead development and implementation of manufacturing processes, equipment, and facilities for ICE, transmissions, axles, and electrification projects, ensuring quality and cost-effective execution across programs.

The role requires 2+ years of experience, a mechanical/electromechanical background, and strong English communication.

Formación

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Mechatronic, or Electromechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in developing manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent professional English proficiency (oral and written).
  • Must have a valid Passport and U.S. Visa for international collaboration.
  • Flexibility to work extended hours to meet program milestones.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and cross-functional teamwork skills.

Responsabilidades

  • Represent Manufacturing Mechanical Engineering at program meetings.
  • Track new program equipment from vendor runoff to in-plant capability.
  • Coordinate weekly meetings for PO / APN / CR agendas.
  • Develop and maintain program master schedules using Balkan chart system.
  • Analyze schedules for shortfalls and timing changes.
  • Coordinate Internal/External Quality Audit processes.

As a Powertrain Manufacturing Engineer at Ford, you will play a pivotal role in the Global Product Development System (GPDS), serving as the bridge between product design and physical production. You will be responsible for leading the planning, development, and implementation of manufacturing processes, equipment, and facilities for a wide range of powertrain programs. Your scope will include traditional Internal Combustion Engine (ICE), Transmission, and Axle programs, as well as high-priority Electrification projects such as Power Units, eDrives, and Battery systems.

The ideal candidate is a technical leader who can navigate complex engineering studies from early concept (uPSC) through to final launch (uFSR). You will ensure that all manufacturing solutions align with Ford’s Global Bill of Process (BOP), quality standards, and investment efficiency goals. By collaborating with Product Engineering, Plant Operations, and external suppliers, you will drive continuous improvement and ensure our facilities are equipped to deliver world-class quality and performance.

  • Represent Manufacturing Mechanical Engineering (ME) at program meeting Component Program Module Team, Transmission Program Module Team (e.g. CPMT, TPMT, Pre-Production Build Meetings, etc.).
  • Track new program equipment (vendor runoff thru in-plant capability).
  • Liaise with Mfg. Quality Office to coordinate LRCA event
  • Maintain LQOS charts for new programs.
  • Facilitate / Coordinate weekly Purchase Order/Advance Purchasing Notification/Change Request (PO / APN / CR) Meeting Agendas and Packages.
  • Actively participate in the meetings led by Process Engineers and B&F to discuss layout until reaching layout freeze
  • Develop & maintain program master schedules use Balkan chart system.
  • Analyze schedules identifying shortfalls, program content, and timing changes.
  • Facilitate resolution of timing issues.
  • Coordinate recovery actions and timing scenarios.
  • Lead / assist in updating / publishing various program review decks & web databases (e.g. PCC, PRs, SAR’s, etc.).
  • Receive, evaluate & write Work Order requests (WOW) & track status.
  • Receive, evaluate & process (Worldwide Engineering Release System) WERS notifications, route to appropriate WERS Contacts and track status.
  • Program Change management coordinator for each program and liaison with the PTME/BME Coordinator.
  • Develop and coordinate updates to program Indicated cost tracking documents.
  • Maintain program’s checkbook as well as coordinate initial program funding with the financial analyst.
  • Serve as main contact for program’s checkbook.
  • Drive documentation updates and maintain Program Control Center SharePoint.
  • Provide process confirmation for the application of the PTME/BME QOS for New Programs.
  • Assist Production Engineering and GME with the procurement of MTO parts, when necessary.
  • Assist Production Engineering, Plant Operations and GME with the MOS, IM, Spare Parts process.
  • Coordinate Internal/External Quality Audit process.

To be successful in this role, you must possess a blend of technical engineering expertise, project management skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Mechatronic, or Electromechanical Engineering.

  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in developing manufacturing processes.

  • Communication: Excellent professional English proficiency (oral and written) to collaborate with global teams.

  • Travel & Compliance: Must have a valid Passport and U.S. Visa available for international collaboration and training.

  • Availability:Flexibility to work extended hours as required to meet program launch milestones.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.

  • Proven problem-solving abilities and a collaborative mindset for working across multi-functional teams.

  • Ability to manage 'Lessons Learned' to continuously improve engineering standards and architectures.
