Formación

Resumen

The Production Supervisor is responsible for leading and coordinating daily operations within the metal mechanics production area. This role ensures that production goals are achieved in terms of safety, quality, efficiency, and delivery, while supervising employees, optimizing resources, and promoting continuous improvement.
Responsabilidades

RESPONSIBILITIES:


Plan, organize and direct manufacturing activities for specific areas of the plant to meet established plant objectives. Serve as a teacher, coach and advisor to facilitate teamwork and continued employee development. Act as a resource to less senior supervisors and in most cases has supervisors reporting to him/her.

  • Provide manufacturing process and team support to complex operations. Offer direction, expertise and effort in specific manufacturing areas. Maintain focus on meeting plant objectives in safety, quality, productivity, delivery and cost.
  • Collaborate on various black belt and green belt Lean Six Sigma projects. Consistently lead at least 2 green belt projects annually. Provide support, direction, and expertise on lean six-sigma projects of less senior supervisors.
  • Leads the largest manufacturing units totaling a minimum of 100 total reports. Function as interim Focus Factory Manager, as needed.
  • Mentor and support the efforts and activities of less senior supervisors. Facilitate and actively participate in the development and training of supervisors and hourly employees.
  • Sponsor customer/dealer visits to the plant.
  • Drive major change initiatives, such as employee involvement programs. (Must also complete the requirements for Manufacturing Supervisor I, II, & III.)
  • Supervise production personnel and assign daily tasks to meet production plans and objectives.

  • Monitor manufacturing processes, ensuring compliance with safety standards, quality requirements, and production schedules.

  • Oversee the correct use of machinery, tools, and equipment within the metal mechanics area.

  • Ensure compliance with special processes such as 6S, ISO 9000, and customer-specific requirements.

  • Manage non-conforming materials, ensuring timely documentation and corrective actions.

  • Coordinate with supervisors and managers from other departments to resolve issues impacting production flow.

  • Maintain accurate production reports, records, and KPI tracking.

  • Train, coach, and evaluate team members, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

  • Implement corrective and preventive actions to ensure customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.

  • Support health, safety, and environmental policies in alignment with company standards.


REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field (preferred).

  • 3–5 years of experience in production supervision within the metal mechanics industry.

  • Strong knowledge of metal fabrication processes (sheet metal, welding, painting, machining).

  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.

  • Familiarity with ISO 9000/14000 standards and safety regulations.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP systems.

  • Bilingual: English and Spanish (intermediate to advanced).

  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
