Job summary

Hussmann seeks a Principal Engineer I to own the design integrity of display cases in the Core Portfolio. You will lead cross‑functional teams, mentor engineers, and provide technical guidance to customers while ensuring safety, quality, and regulatory compliance across product lines.

You will oversee ergonomic and fabrication considerations, drive strategic design decisions, and collaborate on large-scale projects, reporting to the Chief Engineer – Core and Distributed Products.

Qualifications

• 10–15 years of directly related engineering experience in commercial refrigeration.
• Experience leading mechanical design projects adhering to department goals and standards.
• Strong ability to influence and combine analytical, commercially pragmatic approaches to technical path analysis.
• Strong technical acumen and collaboration skills with a global mindset.
• Expert understanding and design knowledge of refrigeration systems and components (DX, trans‑critical CO2, A2L, R290).
• Knowledge and experience with UL, ASHRAE/ANSI/AHRI standards and test methods for commercial refrigeration.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills.

• Provides strategic direction on product design and project planning.
• Maintain consistency and integrity of engineering designs on large projects.
• Lead cross‑functional project teams and provide engineering mentorship.
• Interact with external customers providing high level technical support.
• Make strategic decisions to drive business objectives for responsible product lines.
• Drive continuous improvement of product lines including design quality and performance.
