Flō Networks is seeking an experienced Optical Transport Engineer to design, engineer, and deploy optical transport solutions for Metro and Longhaul networks. Based in Ciudad Juárez or Mexico City, you will join a fast-paced team supporting customers and the evolution of our backbone.

Responsibilities include cross-team collaboration, BOM development, and 3rd level support for DWDM/OTN/MPLS-TP networks, with on-call rotation.

Formación

• Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Computer Engineering or related.
• Minimum of 5-years telecommunications industry experience.
• Fully bilingual (English and Spanish).
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Flō Networks is a leading provider of telecommunications services between the US and Mexico. We provide connectivity and managed services to Fortune 1000 companies, telecommunications, and cable companies over a fiber optic network that spans over 13,000 miles between both countries.

We have an immediate need for an experienced Optical Transport Engineer. This position can be based in Ciudad Juarez or Mexico City, Mexico.

The Role:

The Optical Transport Engineer is directly involved in the daily operations of the optical backbone. It is responsible for the design, engineering, and deployment of optical transport solutions to augment the Metro and Longhaul network. You will be part of a fast paced environment focused on both immediate delivery to our customers and the long term evolution of our network.

The Responsibilities:

• Collaborating with planning, provisioning, standards, and sales teams as well as equipment vendors on network and customer solutions.
• Partnering with field operations to obtain information such as space, power, and fiber availability required to complete project engineering.
• Creating install specifications and applicable diagrams and drawings required for installation, turn-up, inventory, and configuration of Metro transport equipment deployed into our network.
• Developing project Bill of Material (BOM) and placing orders for network equipment, rack, and hardware requirements.
• Ensuring all engineering documentation is accurate and up-to-date.
• Operation and maintenance of long distance and metro DWDM platforms
• Capacity planning of the transport network.
• Circuit design based on sales and provisioning requirements.
• Develop and maintain the technical documentation of the different transport platforms (CWDM, DWDM, OTN, DWDM)
• Provide support for service activation.
• Design and implementation of maintenance windows.
• Capacity analysis and reporting.
• Development of contingency plans.
• Provide 3rd level support for optical transport related network issues.
• Participate in an on-call rotation.

The Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Computer Engineering or related.
• Minimum of 5-years telecommunications industry experience.
• Must be fully bilingual (English and Spanish)
• Excellent people skills, teamwork, willingness to learn, ability to prioritize and coordinate tasks and assignments. Friendly, confident, and able to meet deadlines.
• Ability to work in a cross-functional development organization with architects, engineers, project managers and product managers.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written, facilitation and presentation techniques.
• Experience CWDM and DWDM transport systems
• Experience in wireless transport equipment
• Knowledge of Transport/Packet/TDM networks
• Proven experience in operating OTN networks
• Experience and deploying and operating MPLS-TP networks
• Knowledge of fiber characterization testing, procedures, guides and standards is required.
• Knowledge of optical transport network engineering design principles, guides and standards.
