Job summary

ABB is seeking a MES Backend Developer to support the implementation of a Manufacturing Execution System. You will develop and maintain backend components and business logic, collaborating with the MES Champion/Modeler to deliver scalable MES solutions.

The role requires strong backend development skills, basic MES modelling, and the ability to work with MES models. It is a hybrid position contributing to IT in Juarez and may involve travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in information management, computer systems, business engineering or similar.
• 5+ years experience in manufacturing or computer science related role.
• Knowledge of MES and ERP systems, materials management and production control; SAP preferred.
• Proven backend development track record for mid-size projects.
• Strong backend programming capabilities.
• Experience with discrete manufacturing and MES/ECS systems.
• Strong interpersonal skills and problem-solving ability.
• Willingness to travel, potentially international travel.
• Fluent English.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain MES backend logic, services and extensions.
• Implement business rules and custom application logic.
• Perform basic MES modelling and configuration when required.
• Understand MES models created by the MES Champion / Modeler.
• Follow global architecture and development standards.
• Perform unit testing, debugging and troubleshooting.
• Support integration with Frontend, SAP and IoT components.
• Support deployment and continuous improvement of MES applications.
