Woodside Energy seeks a Mechanical Technician to ensure safe, reliable offshore mechanical and marine equipment operation in the Gulf of Mexico, complying with Woodside and regulatory requirements.

The role includes participating in hook-up, commissioning, and start-up while transitioning to steady-state operations, with emphasis on safe control and isolation of mechanical systems.

Proficiency in English is preferred; resumes should be submitted in English.

Formación

  • University degree or trade certificate required.
  • Minimum of 10 years in offshore oil and gas production operations.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret P&IDs and schematics.
  • Experience with maintenance management systems (prefer SAP CMMS).
  • Proficiency in English preferred for communication.

Responsabilidades

  • Participate in hook up and commissioning activities during start-up operations.
  • Maintain offshore mechanical and marine equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation.
  • Assist planners with procedures and work instructions for mechanical tasks.
  • Ensure safety of personnel and facilities, including SIMOPS and emergency drills.
  • Lead safety-related drills and contribute to health, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Coordinate maintenance planning and scheduling to optimize equipment uptime.
  • Mentor team members and participate in leadership development programs.

About the Role

The Mechanical Technician’s primary responsibilities include ensuring the safe, reliable, and compliant operation of offshore mechanical and marine equipment, such as process, utility, and safety systems, in accordance with Woodside and regulatory requirements in the Gulf of Mexico. In addition, the position involves verifying the safe control and isolation of mechanical systems and contributing to maintenance planning. The role will be participating in construction, hook-up, commissioning and start-up operations and fully transition to steady state operations organization.

Duties and Responsibilities
Core accountabilities
  • Participate as a member of the hook up and commissioning team and the start-up team during start-up operations.
  • Maintain offshore mechanical and marine equipment to ensure that it can be operated safely and reliably in compliance with all statutory and Woodsides Gulf of Mexico requirements: To guarantee the safety, reliability, and compliance of critical equipment, ensuring operational integrity and adherence to regulations.
  • Assist Offshore Planners with developing and maintaining procedures and work instructions for all mechanical work: To provide clear, accurate, and up-to-date guidance for mechanical tasks, enhancing efficiency and safety.
  • Ensure the safety of personnel and integrity of facilities at all times. This includes simultaneous operations, emergency response, and training exercises: To protect the well-being of personnel and maintain the structural and operational integrity of facilities under all conditions.
  • Participate in and lead safety-related drills and exercises; lead facility HSE meetings as required: To reinforce safety protocols, prepare for emergencies, and ensure continuous improvement in health, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Verify safe control and isolation to enable access to mechanical systems and equipment: To ensure that all mechanical systems and equipment are safely isolated and controlled before any maintenance or access, preventing accidents and ensuring safety.
  • Ensure facility maintenance activities deliver safe, mechanically sound, optimal equipment conditions and performance: To maintain high standards of equipment performance and reliability, ensuring safe and efficient operations.
  • Contribute to the planning and scheduling of maintenance activities: To optimize maintenance schedules, ensuring timely and effective upkeep of equipment and systems.
  • Serve as a coach/mentor across the team: To foster a culture of continuous learning and development, enhancing team skills and performance.
  • Participate in the Field Leadership Program: To develop leadership skills and contribute to the overall leadership capacity within the organization.
  • Inform the Maintenance Supervisor and the engineering staff of equipment modification requirements or proposals to maintain mechanical drawings, schematics diagrams, in an “as built” condition per Woodside Management of Change procedures.
  • Assist the materials coordinator in maintaining and establishing adequate levels of supplies and strategic mechanical spare parts at the facilities.

Duration of Assignment: Permanent and rotational

Proficiency in English is preferred

Qualifications
  • Citizenship: Mexican citizen
  • Visa Requirements: B1/B2 USA Visa required
  • Education: University degree or trade certificate required
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years in offshore oil and gas production operations
  • Communication Skills: Proficient in written communication
  • Maintenance Management Systems: Experience with maintenance management systems, with a preference for SAP over other CMMS systems
  • Technical Skills: Ability to read and interpret P&IDs and schematics
  • Computer Proficiency: Computer skills relevant to job responsibilities
Strengths
  • Reliability Maintenance Expertise: Proficient in reliability maintenance concepts, equipment criticality identification, and failure modes effects analysis, with the ability to influence and implement change.
  • Operational Experience: Extensive experience in operating and maintaining hydrocarbon processing equipment, including gas compressors, utilities, mechanical systems, generators, diesel engines, pumps, hydraulics, and electrical/instrument systems in the offshore oil industry.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written communication skills.
  • Diagnostic Proficiency: Skilled in using diagnostic equipment related to mechanical systems and equipment.
  • Stakeholder Interaction: Capable of interacting with diverse stakeholders and conveying technical information clearly and concisely.
  • Leadership and Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrated leadership abilities, along with strong personal, interpersonal, and team skills.
