Sanmina in Nuevo León, Apodaca is seeking two Materials Buyers to manage the full lifecycle of direct materials (steel and raw materials) for local and cross-border operations, including support to our Houston, USA facilities.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field, 3+ years in the steel industry, and advanced English. You will drive procurement efficiency, maintain supplier relationships, and ensure timely deliveries within an ERP-driven workflow.

Formación

• Bachelor’s degree completed in Materials/Metallurgical/Mechanical Engineering or International Business.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in steel procurement and direct purchasing.
• Fluent English with strong communication skills.
• Solid knowledge of MRP/ERP systems and international logistics.
• Advanced negotiation skills and familiarity with procurement KPIs.

Responsabilidades

• Execute, confirm, and track direct and indirect purchase orders from placement through delivery to the warehouse.
• Conduct RFQs and quotes for steel and related materials.
• Monitor steel market trends and negotiate volumes with mills and service centers.
• Lead pricing, long-term contracts, and payment terms negotiations with suppliers.
• Ensure accurate material receipts in ERP/MRP and maintain vendor data.
• Develop alternate global sourcing streams to optimize total cost of ownership.

We are seeking two dynamic, analytical, and results-oriented Materials Buyers to join our team in Nuevo León. The primary objective of this role is to manage the full lifecycle of direct materials (raw materials/steel), ensuring a timely, cost-effective, and efficient supply chain.

• Apodaca Location: This role will be key in managing direct steel sourcing while providing strategic and commercial support to our Houston, USA operations, fostering cross-border synergy.
• Guadalupe Location: This role will focus on driving procurement efficiency and material availability for our local manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Order & Supply Management: Execute, confirm, and diligently track direct and indirect purchase orders from placement through delivery to the warehouse.
• Bilateral Sourcing: Conduct RFQs and quotes for production-related requirements (raw materials, components).
• Steel Industry Strategy: Monitor the metals market, negotiate steel volumes, and ensure compliance with technical specifications in coordination with mills and service centers.
• High-Impact Negotiation: Lead negotiations regarding pricing, long-term contracts, as well as payment terms and conditions with domestic and international suppliers.
• Process Control & Administration: Ensure accurate material receipts within the MRP/ERP system, follow up on overdue orders, resolve pending supplier invoices, and maintain an updated vendor database.
• Supplier Development: Research and develop alternative global sourcing streams to optimize the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).

Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s degree completed in Materials Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, International Business, or a related field (Mandatory).
• Experience: Minimum +3 years of proven experience, with a solid background within the steel industry and joint management of direct purchasing.
• Languages: Advanced English proficiency / Fluent conversational skills.
• Strong command of MRP / ERP systems.
• Solid knowledge of international logistics, Incoterms, and foreign trade
• Advanced negotiation skills and familiarity with procurement KPIs
