Ford México is seeking a Material Flow Engineer to design, evaluate, and execute internal logistics and material handling for new programs at VO plants in Hermosillo. You will lead facility readiness, floor-space planning, and flow studies across pre-production and launch milestones to ensure on-time delivery within budget and lean safety standards.

Formación

  • Bachelor of Engineering (Engineering degree) required.
  • CAD 2D design and isometric layouts for material flow and plant production areas.
  • Strong Excel and MS Office skills for data analysis and documentation.
  • English language proficiency required for cross-functional collaboration.

Job Description

The Material Flow Engineer is responsible for the design, technical evaluation, and execution of internal logistics and material handling processes for new program launches at Ford Mexico VO plants.

You will lead facility readiness, floor-space planning, and material flow studies across pre-production and launch milestones, ensuring that tooling, layout configurations, and storage infrastructure are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest safety and lean manufacturing standards.

Responsibilities
  • Provide engineering support for material flow process; document standards and procedures, provide training, overall adherence and maintenance to ensure materials are available in designated stock, markets and line locations throughout the facility
  • Work with Planning & Inventory Control, Production, Material Handlers, and Supply Chain to ensure robust policies are available and practiced and strive for continuous improvement
  • Apply technical expertise, commensurate with formal training and limited job experience, in the development of material flow processes
  • Design and/or develops material flow processes and equipment
  • Recommend changes to increase safety, reduce costs, improve quality and optimize efficiency
  • Participate in plant layout activities
  • Develop floor space analyses to confirm storage requirements and recommend practical solutions where required.
  • Assist in qualifying manual and powered material handling equipment requirements.
  • Work to improve material flow and manage materials and inventory consistent with Lean principles
  • Lay out market, sequencing, and kitting areas to facilitate material handling, process flow, space utilization, and labor
  • Define and manages in-plant storage and call systems to maintain inventories; assists to define appropriate goals and metrics for proper material control
  • Provide vehicle and pedestrian flow/congestion/safety analyses and recommend practical solutions where required
  • Interact on a regular basis with other functional groups and vendors
Qualifications
  • Industrial, Logistics, Mechatronics, Electrical, Electronics or related. A Bachelor of Engineering Certification
  • Advanced knowledge CAD 2D design, creation of Isometrics, work cells, layout for process engineering and production areas related to Material flow
  • Experience with analyzing data base, good knowledge in Excel, recommending and documenting modifications, enhancements, test results and problem resolutions
  • Microsoft Office (Excel/Word/PowerPoint/Outlook/Access)
  • English speaking & understanding
  • Leadership skills to coordinate multiple teams from plants and from staff
Even better, you may have:
  • Preferred knowledge in data analytics and SAP
  • 2 or more years of materials experience
