Job summary

Intuitive Surgical, S. de R.L de C.V. is seeking a packaging/process engineer to support development, validation and maintenance of packaging processes for instruments and accessories in line with SOPs and quality standards.

You will analyze packaging parameters, support line transfers, implement DOE studies, execute IQOQPQ/PPQ, interact with suppliers, and drive continuous improvement to reduce costs while ensuring product integrity.

Qualifications

  • 2–3 years of packaging and manufacturing/process experience.
  • Proficient in CAD and SolidWorks; GD&T is a plus.
  • English: reading, writing and speaking at an 80% level.
  • Experience with validation (IQOQPQ and PPQ).

Responsibilities

  • Optimize manufacturing and packaging processes to improve performance.
  • Review daily packaging process status across the plant.
  • Provide production line support for packaging issues.
  • Analyze NCRs, PLs, and EEs related to packaging to determine root causes and resolutions in SAP.
  • Support line transfers and NPIs related to packaging processes.
  • Identify critical packaging parameters through DOE.
  • Perform IQOQPQ and PPQ for packaging processes.
  • Develop process flow for production line integration (travelers/WIs/BOMs).
  • Design or modify WIP flows for packaging material handling between stations.
  • Interact with suppliers on packaging-related matters.
  • Lead continuous improvement projects to boost efficiency and reduce costs.

Job description

Primary Function of Position

The engineer in this position will support activities like development, validation and maintenance of instruments and / or accessories packaging processes across the company, according to the criteria established in internal procedures (SOP’s. WI’s) and the quality standards applicable to the medical industry, to guarantee the integrity of the finished product.

Essential Job Duties
  • Apply engineering concepts to the optimization of manufacturing and packaging processes to achieve better process performance.
  • Review the daily status of the packaging processes of entire plant.
  • Provide support to the production lines due to problems related to packaging processes when required by the engineer owner of the line.
  • Analyze quality notifications (NCR’s, PL’s, EE’s) related to the packaging process to determine provisions for the root cause, their resolution and closure in the SAP system.
  • Participate in the implementation of line transfers or introduction of new products (NPI’s) related to packaging processes.
  • Identify parameters and critical packaging process windows (time, pressure, temperature, etc.) through design of experiments (DOE).
  • Perform IQOQPQ and PPQ related to their design, redesign or integration of new or existing packaging processes.
  • Develop the process flow for integration into the production line (travelers / WI’s / BOM’s).
  • Design and / or modify flows for work in progress (WIP) of packaging establishing the handling of material between stations.
  • Interact with suppliers for matters related to packaging (Supply, SCR’s PPQPs, etc.).
  • Develop continuous improvement projects in the packaging manufacturing process to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
Required Skills and Experience
  • Minimum 2 - 3 years’ experience in relevant packaging and manufacturing/process experience.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • English 80% read, written, and spoken.
  • Demonstrated experience in validation processes (IQOQPQ and PPQ).
  • Knowledge of packaging manufacturing equipment (FFS, tray sealers, laser markers, etc.).
  • Reading and interpretation of engineering drawings.
  • CAD and SolidWorks proficient.
  • Geometrical Dimension and Tolerances (GD&T) is a plus.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office programs.
Required Education and Training
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering or similar preferred.
  • Travel: Position may require 5% travel, primarily within the United States.
