CRAFT in Tecate, Baja California, Mexico is seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Engineer to help build scalable, safe, and repeatable production processes for a new factory. You will set takt times, optimize line balance, reduce changeover with SMED and develop visual, standardized work for operators on the shop floor.

You will also apply PFMEA, Control Plans and continuous improvement methods while collaborating with Production, Quality and Product Engineering teams.

Formación

• Engineering degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electromechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• 3+ years of hands-on manufacturing engineering experience.
• Real experience with time studies and cycle-time analysis.
• Structured Work Standardization and visual Work Instructions development.
• Line balancing and bottleneck analysis.
• Lean manufacturing experience.
• Root-cause problem solving approaches.
• Strong Excel and data-analysis skills.
• Spanish fluency and working English.

Responsabilidades

• Conduct time and motion studies and establish takt, cycle and labor standards.
• Improve line balancing,Layouts, stations, and material flow to reduce bottlenecks.
• Apply SMED to reduce changeover times and develop standard work.
• Create visual Standard Work and Work Instructions operable by shop floor.
• Develop PFDs, PFMEAs and Control Plans for priority processes.
• Use Lean, 5S, Kanban, FIFO, Visual Management and Poka-Yoke techniques.
• Lead pilot runs and transition new designs to stable processes.
• Train operators and verify sustained standardized work.
• Collaborate across Production, Quality, Product Engineering, Planning and Operations.

Help Build the Factory That Takes CRAFT to the Next Level Tecate, Baja California, Mexico New Factory | Full-Time | Primarily Production-Floor Based

CRAFT is a privately held, entrepreneurial, fast-growing refrigeration manufacturer serving the U.S. supermarket and restaurant market. We combine manufacturing in Baja California, world-class engineering, advanced refrigeration design and testing, and close collaboration with major U.S. customers to create increasingly energy-efficient, reliable refrigeration systems with outstanding lifetime cost of ownership. And we're building a new factory in Tecate. We're looking for a hands‑on Manufacturing Engineer who wants more than maintaining somebody else's processes. We want you to help build better ones.

YOUR MISSION

Build and continuously improve the manufacturing processes that allow CRAFT to scale rapidly while improving: Safety Quality Productivity Delivery Operator Capability

Your operating philosophy should be: Observe it. Measure it. Understand it. Improve it. Standardize it. Teach it. Verify it. Sustain it. That's the core mission of this position.

WHAT YOU'LL ACTUALLY DO

• Conduct time and motion studies and establish reliable takt, cycle and labor standards.
• Find bottlenecks and improve line balancing, layouts, workstations and material flow.
• Use SMED to attack changeover time.
• Create simple, visual Standard Work and Work Instructions that operators can actually use.
• Develop PFDs, PFMEAs and Control Plans for priority processes.
• Apply Lean, 5S, Kanban, FIFO, visual management and Poka-Yoke where they make work better.
• Use 8D, 5 Whys, Ishikawa, Pareto and PDCA to eliminate root causes—not just contain problems.
• Support pilot runs and turn new designs into stable, repeatable production processes.
• Train operators and verify that standardized work is understood and sustained.
• Work closely with Production, Quality, Product Engineering, Planning/Materials and Operations.

The objective isn't to implement Lean tools for the sake of Lean. Make the work safer, simpler, faster, more repeatable and easier to do correctly.

You'll help us use AI practically to accelerate the creation, translation and continuous improvement of: Visual Work Instructions SOPs Training Materials Engineering-to-Operator Documentation Photo/Video Instructions Knowledge Capture AI should make engineering faster and better—but technical accuracy remains essential. Everything released to Production must be verified.

WHAT WILL YOU HAVE TO SHOW FOR YOUR FIRST YEAR

• ≥95% of recurring processes with documented takt, cycle and labor standards.
• ≥30% reduction in priority changeover times using SMED.
• ≥95% of critical and recurring assembly processes supported by current visual Work Instructions/SOPs.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR

• Engineering degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electromechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• 3+ years of hands‑on manufacturing engineering experience.
• Real experience with time studies and cycle-time analysis.
• Standard Work and visual Work Instruction development.
• Line balancing and bottleneck analysis.
• Practical Lean manufacturing.
• Structured root‑cause problem solving.
• Strong Excel/data‑analysis skills.
• Strong Spanish and working English.
• Most importantly: you enjoy spending substantial time on the production floor.
• Experience in refrigeration/HVAC, appliance or electromechanical manufacturing, high‑mix manufacturing, PFMEA, Control Plans, SMED, Poka‑Yoke, NPI, SPC, ERP/MRP or AI‑supported manufacturing is a major plus.

LO QUE REALMENTE HARÁS

• Realizar estudios de tiempos y movimientos y establecer estándares confiables de takt time, tiempo de ciclo y mano de obra.
• Identificar cuellos de botella y mejorar el balanceo de líneas, layouts, estaciones de trabajo y flujo de materiales.
• Utilizar SMED para reducir los tiempos de cambio.
• Crear Trabajo Estandarizado e Instrucciones de Trabajo simples y visuales que los operadores realmente puedan utilizar.
• Desarrollar PFDs, PFMEAs y Planes de Control para procesos prioritarios.
• Aplicar Lean, 5S, Kanban, FIFO, gestión visual y Poka-Yoke donde permitan mejorar el trabajo.
• Utilizar 8D, 5 Porqués, Ishikawa, Pareto y PDCA para eliminar las causas raíz, no solo contener los problemas.
• Apoyar corridas piloto y convertir nuevos diseños en procesos de producción estables y repetibles.
• Capacitar a los operadores y verificar que el trabajo estandarizado sea comprendido y se mantenga.
• Trabajar estrechamente con Producción, Calidad, Ingeniería de Producto, Planeación/Materiales y Operaciones.

El objetivo no es implementar herramientas Lean solo por implementar Lean. Haz que el trabajo sea más seguro, sencillo, rápido, repetible y fácil de realizar correctamente.

Nos ayudarás a utilizar la IA de manera práctica para acelerar la creación, traducción y mejora continua de: Instrucciones de Trabajo Visuales SOPs Materiales de Capacitación Documentación de Ingeniería para Operadores Instrucciones con Fotos/Videos Captura de Conocimiento La IA debe hacer que la ingeniería sea más rápida y mejor, pero la precisión técnica sigue siendo esencial. Todo lo que se libere a Producción debe ser verificado.

¿QUÉ TENDRÁS QUE DEMOSTRAR DURANTE TU PRIMER AÑO

¿A QUIÉN ESTAMOS BUSCANDO

• Título de Ingeniería Industrial, Manufactura, Mecánica, Electromecánica o una disciplina relacionada.
• 3+ años de experiencia práctica en ingeniería de manufactura.
• Experiencia real con estudios de tiempos y análisis de tiempos de ciclo.
• Desarrollo de Trabajo Estandarizado e Instrucciones de Trabajo visuales.
• Balanceo de líneas y análisis de cuellos de botella.
• Experiencia práctica en Lean Manufacturing.
• Resolución estructurada de problemas mediante análisis de causa raíz.
• Sólidas habilidades en Excel/análisis de datos.
• Dominio del español e inglés funcional.
• Lo más importante: disfrutas pasar una parte considerable de tu tiempo en el piso de producción.
• La experiencia en refrigeración/HVAC, manufactura de electrodomésticos o productos electromecánicos, manufactura de alta variedad, PFMEA, Planes de Control, SMED, Poka-Yoke, NPI, SPC, ERP/MRP o manufactura respaldada por IA es un gran plus.
