Role Purpose & Value
This role is responsible for coordinating and leading the execution of the company’s 5‑year industrial plan, fully aligned with divisional strategy. The scope includes driving relevant investments, capacity improvements, demand forecasting, productivity enhancements, and adherence to standards. The position also leads capital investment projects and oversees facilities maintenance activities. As a key member of the management team, this role provides critical business support at the plant level and delivers feedback to the wider function.
Key Responsibilities
- Benchmark manufacturing processes against other GKN sites and implement plans to close performance gaps.
- Manage and lead capex requirements, ensuring local budgets align with divisional needs; track spending and communicate status.
- Collaborate with Purchasing to ensure all equipment and spare parts comply with divisional specifications and safety standards.
- Maintain and update manufacturing engineering systems to meet business and GKN requirements.
- Ensure compliance with core processes such as hardening, welding, and assembly.
- Lead Business Process Excellence (BPE) projects to improve systems and efficiency.
- Consolidate and monitor OGS budgets, ensuring compliance and identifying improvement opportunities.
- Provide a consolidated view of plant demand and capacity for the next 5 years, highlighting gaps and improvement actions.
- Compare customer data with iDash and manage exceptions.
- Respond to divisional requests regarding capacity analysis, investment, and capex requirements.
- Collaborate with Supply Chain and Commercial teams to ensure effective SIOP and MPS for capacity management.
- Lead the facilities maintenance team to meet plant needs and support industrialization.
- Drive implementation of industrial solutions to improve productivity and performance.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- University degree in a technical field or equivalent.
- 3–6 years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering.
- Strong background in manufacturing systems and processes.
- Leadership experience (manager level preferred).
- Proven ability to lead cross‑functional and diverse teams.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Experience in capex planning and tracking.
- Knowledge of Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning (SIOP) and Master Production Schedule (MPS) tools.
- Experience with NBA (or equivalent systems).
- Familiarity with ISO/TS 16949 environments.
- Continuous improvement mindset (formal CI training is a plus).
