Molex El Salto in Mexico is seeking an Equipment & Maintenance Engineer to safeguard automated manufacturing equipment and drive continuous improvement. You will coordinate technicians, lead problem solving, and participate in production meetings to optimize uptime and product quality.

The role requires a Electronics/Mechatronics background, experience in electronic manufacturing maintenance, and strong English communication with suppliers.

Formación

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (electronics/mechatronics preferred).
  • Experience in maintenance roles within electronic manufacturing.
  • Strong problem-solving with RCA and GR&R/CPK interpretation.
  • Technical English to communicate with suppliers.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork; capable to train others.
  • Experience with pick-and-place (SMT) machines, PVA, and dispensing machines.

Responsabilidades

  • Lead and coordinate maintenance technicians during shifts to resolve equipment issues.
  • Monitor and report KPIs: downtime, MTTR, MTBF.
  • Provide technical support for complex machine failures and escalate to suppliers.
  • Participate in production floor meetings to align maintenance with goals.
  • Conduct weekly audits for safety, quality, and ISO 9000 compliance.
  • Oversee commissioning and safe release of new machinery with design teams.
  • Manage inventory of machines and spares; evaluate suppliers and cut costs.
  • Perform root cause analysis using 5W2H, 5Why, Pareto, Ishikawa.
  • Support electrical installation layout and validation.
  • Provide training and mentorship on automation systems.

You will coordinate maintenance technicians, lead problem-solving efforts on complex equipment issues, and actively participate in production floor meetings to drive continuous improvement. Your expertise will help optimize equipment uptime and support the delivery of high-quality products.

As an Equipment & Maintenance Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the seamless operation and reliability of our automated manufacturing equipment. You will coordinate maintenance technicians, lead problem-solving efforts on complex equipment issues, and actively participate in production floor meetings to drive continuous improvement. Your expertise will help optimize equipment uptime and support the delivery of high-quality products.

Our Team

You will be part of the OPTO division at Molex El Salto, working closely with a dedicated team of maintenance technicians, automation specialists, and cross-functional partners including the Business Unit and customers. Our team is focused on operational excellence and innovation in the electronic manufacturing space, leveraging strong collaboration to meet production goals.

What You Will Do
  • Lead and coordinate maintenance technicians during shifts to ensure effective and timely resolution of equipment issues.
  • Monitor and report key performance indicators such as equipment downtime (DT), mean time to repair (MTTR), and mean time between failures (MTBF).
  • Provide technical expertise and support for complex machine failures, escalating to suppliers when necessary.
  • Participate actively in production floor meetings to align maintenance efforts with operational goals.
  • Conduct weekly audits of maintenance activities to ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards under ISO 9000.
  • Oversee the commissioning and safe release of new machinery in collaboration with mechanical and design teams.
  • Manage inventory of machines and spare parts, including supplier evaluation and cost reduction initiatives.
  • Perform root cause analysis using established problem-solving methodologies (5W2H, 5Why, Pareto, Ishikawa) to drive continuous improvement.
  • Support electrical installation layout and validation activities, ensuring compliance and functionality.
  • Provide training and mentorship to team members on automation systems and maintenance processes.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (preferably Electronics, Mechatronics, or Electromechanical).
  • Strong proven experience in maintenance roles within an electronic manufacturing environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with experience in root cause analysis and interpretation of GR&R & CPK studies.
  • Competent in technical English to communicate with suppliers and understand technical documentation.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities, with a capability to train and mentor others.
  • Experience with pick-and-place (SMT) machines, PVA, and dispensing machines in a manufacturing environment.
What Will Put You Ahead
  • Green Belt certification or similar continuous improvement training.
  • Proven ability to manage supplier relationships and optimize maintenance costs.
  • Hands‑on experience in new equipment installation and commissioning.
  • Familiarity with safety standards and risk mitigation related to electrical hazards and automated machinery.
