Caterpillar Inc. in Ramos Arizpe, Coahuila, is seeking a Lean Manager to lead the facility's continuous improvement strategy.

You will apply Lean, Six Sigma, and disciplined project management to improve safety, quality, delivery, cost, and engagement, partnering with leaders and frontline teams. You will develop the site roadmap, drive cross-functional projects, coach leaders in Lean thinking, and embed sustainable operating practices across the organization.

Formación

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Systems, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Progressive experience leading Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement initiatives in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and data visualization or analytics tools.
  • Advanced English skills with ability to translate data into insights.
  • Coaching leaders and employees in Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Influencing diverse stakeholders to adopt new ways of working.
  • Strong cross‑functional collaboration across levels.

Responsabilidades

  • Develop and execute the site Lean and continuous improvement roadmap.
  • Lead cross‑functional improvement projects using DMAIC, A3, VSM, Kaizen, 5S, and standard work.
  • Analyze data and KPIs to identify losses, validate root causes, and sustain results.
  • Build a portfolio of improvement initiatives with scope, resources and timelines.
  • Facilitate workshops and rapid improvement events across functions.
  • Coach leaders and employees in Lean thinking and problem solving.
  • Establish controls and ownership to sustain improvements.

Job Summary

The Lean Manager leads the facility’s continuous improvement strategy, applying Lean, Six Sigma, and disciplined project management practices to improve safety, quality, delivery, cost, and employee engagement. This role partners with functional leaders and frontline teams to identify high-impact opportunities, deliver measurable business results, and embed sustainable operating practices across the organization.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute the site Lean and continuous improvement roadmap in alignment with business priorities and operational goals.
  • Lead cross-functional improvement projects using DMAIC, A3 problem solving, value stream mapping, Kaizen, 5S, standard work, visual management, and other Lean tools.
  • Analyze operational data and key performance indicators to identify losses, prioritize opportunities, validate root causes, and measure sustained results.
  • Build and manage a portfolio of improvement initiatives, including scope, resources, timelines, risks, financial impact, governance, and executive status reporting.
  • Facilitate workshops and rapid improvement events that engage production, quality, supply chain, maintenance, engineering, and support functions.
  • Coach leaders and employees in Lean thinking, structured problem solving, change management, and daily management routines.
  • Establish controls, standard work, and ownership mechanisms to sustain improvements and prevent performance regression.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Systems, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Progressive experience leading Lean, Six Sigma, operational excellence, or continuous improvement initiatives in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and data visualization or analytics tools.
  • Advanced English Skills: Analytical Thinking: Converts complex operational data into clear insights, identifies patterns and causal relationships, and recommends practical, evidence‑based actions.
  • Connects improvement opportunities to customer value, operational priorities, and measurable financial outcomes.
  • Coaching Others: Develops leaders and employees through hands‑on coaching, constructive feedback, and practical application of Lean and Six Sigma methods.
  • Influencing: Builds compelling fact‑based cases, anticipates resistance, aligns diverse stakeholders, and drives adoption of new ways of working.
  • Interpersonal Relationships: Works effectively across functions and organizational levels, adapting communication for frontline, technical, and executive audiences.
  • Problem Solving: Defines problems accurately, validates data, identifies root causes, evaluates alternatives, and implements effective corrective actions.
  • Process Improvement: Maps value streams, identifies waste and bottlenecks, redesigns workflows, and installs controls that sustain operational gains.
  • Project Management: Defines scope, milestones, resources, risks, governance, and benefits while managing multiple priorities to completion.
  • Six Sigma Methodology: Selects and applies appropriate Lean and statistical tools to reduce waste and variation, improve flow, and control performance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree or MBA with emphasis in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Systems, Operations, Lean Manufacturing, or Continuous Improvement.
  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification; Master Black Belt or PMP certification is a plus.
  • Expertise with value stream transformation, daily management systems, change management, and financial benefit validation.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft 365 digital tools, including Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate, and data analytics.
Additional Information

Location: Ramos Arizpe, Coahuila facility.

This is an on‑site position requiring five days per week at the facility.

Domestic and international travel of up to 10% may be required.

A valid passport and travel visa are required.
