Mastercard Inc. is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to drive the design and delivery of agentic AI-powered applications, working across Applied AI, Data Science, Product, Security, and Platform teams.

This hands-on leadership role focuses on secure, scalable, and reliable software engineering at pace. The ideal candidate has 10+ years of experience, strong backend skills in Java or Python, frontend experience with React/Next.js, and deep knowledge of AI frameworks, orchestration, and enterprise

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field.
• +10 years software engineering experience building scalable, secure, production systems and leading complex initiatives end-to-end.
• Hands-on experience with AI-powered products, agentic applications, LLMs, and tool orchestration patterns.
• Strong understanding of agentic system design including planning, reasoning loops, and workflow orchestration.
• Experience taking AI solutions from prototype to production with reliability, observability, latency, cost, security and governance.
• Proficiency in Java or Python and modern frontend frameworks like React/Next.js.
• Experience with Kubernetes and cloud services (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Strong API, distributed systems, event-driven architectures, data pipelines, and integration patterns.
• Familiarity with CI/CD, DevSecOps, automated testing, and AI-assisted development tools.
• Excellent collaboration and communication across engineering, product, data science, and leadership teams.

Responsabilités

• Lead hands-on architecture, design, and implementation of AI-powered services and platform capabilities from concept through production.
• Define patterns and best practices for production AI systems, including evaluation, monitoring, guardrails, and rollback strategies.
• Drive end-to-end software delivery across the SDLC from discovery to production operations.
• Improve developer workflows, automation, test generation, code review quality, and release confidence.
• Collaborate with product, data science, and business stakeholders to translate opportunities into scalable capabilities.
• Provide technical leadership through architecture decisions, design reviews, and mentoring engineers.
• Build secure, observable cloud-native services with high availability and maintainability.
• Shape roadmaps and influence architecture choices to enable scale and faster delivery.
• Keep senior stakeholders informed of progress, risks, and decisions.
