Job summary

McDonald’s Global Technology is seeking a Software Engineer II to drive end-to-end delivery of restaurant product features from design through deployment. You will work in a squad, own features, and ensure performance, security, and quality targets are met.

You will collaborate with PMs and architects, contribute to code reviews, and mentor junior engineers while documenting architectures and best practices. This role is based in Mexico City.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience with programming experience in Java and Spring Boot.
• 1+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems.
• 2+ years of experience with Relational Databases and SQL.
• 1+ years of experience with Angular.
• Hands-on experience with modern cloud platforms (GCP preferred) and a strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong knowledge of software development tools such as Git, GitHub, Jira, Confluence, IntelliJ or equivalent.
• Proven experience with Agile / Scrum framework.
• Nice to have experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent years of experience.
• Proven knowledge of Computer Science fundamentals (object-oriented design, data structures, and algorithms).
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.

Responsibilities

• Work in a software development squad for Restaurant Products to support the design and development of new functionality and items related to technical debt.
• Independently resolve feature-level blockers and production defects, proactively engaging with peers to maintain sprint momentum without requiring manager intervention.
• Ensure product requirements, features, and backlog items are reviewed and understood as part of the Sprint planning.
• Own the end-to-end execution of assigned features, ensuring your code meets strict performance, security, and quality targets.
• Use software engineering best practices to ensure a high standard of quality for all teamwork.
• Ensure the delivery of high-quality code by implementing unit tests, integration tests and code reviews.
• Leverage AI developer tools in your daily workflow to accelerate coding, automate unit testing, and optimize impact while maintaining quality.
• Elevate your squad's execution by informally pairing with and mentoring junior engineers (SE-I), contributing to code reviews, and proactively documenting architectures and best practices.
• Keep squad documentation up to date.
