Job summary

The Wingate School in Mexico City, part of Inspired Education Group, seeks an experienced Social Studies Teacher to join its international teaching team, starting in August 2027.

The successful candidate will deliver engaging and challenging learning experiences that explore historical, geographical, political, economic and cultural perspectives while developing strong critical-thinking, research and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in History, Geography, Social Sciences, Education or another relevante subject area.
• PGCE or international equivalent teaching qualification.
• 2–3 years of successful teaching experience, ideally in British or international school environment.
• Experience teaching Social Studies, History, Geography or related subjects at secondary level.
• Experience with Cambridge/IGCSE curriculum and/or IB programmes is highly desirable.
• Strong subject knowledge and ability to connect historical and social concepts with contemporary global issues.
• Student-centered approach with inquiry-based, differentiated teaching strategies.
• Excellent classroom management, communication and interpersonal skills.
• High proficiency in English, with ability to teach confidently in an English-language international school.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging, challenging and well-structured Social Studies lessons aligned with the school’s curriculum and international academic standards.
• Develop students’ understanding of history, geography, civics, economics and global issues, as appropriate to the curriculum and year groups taught.
• Encourage critical thinking, inquiry, debate and independent research, helping students evaluate different perspectives and sources of information.
• Design differentiated learning experiences that respond to students’ individual needs, abilities and learning styles.
• Assess student progress using a variety of formative and summative assessment methods and provide clear, constructive and timely feedback.
• Maintain accurate records of student achievement and use assessment data to inform planning and support individual progress.
• Create an inclusive, respectful and academically ambitious classroom environment that promotes curiosity, collaboration and global citizenship.
• Integrate technology, current affairs and relevant real-world examples into lessons to strengthen students’ understanding and engagement.
• Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum planning, interdisciplinary projects and initiatives across the school.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, colleagues and school leadership regarding student progress and development.
• Participate actively in school events, extracurricular activities, professional development and the wider life of The Wingate School.
• Promote and uphold the school’s expectations regarding student wellbeing, safeguarding and professional conduct.
