Ford México is seeking a D&R Engineer to design, develop, validate, and release Body Interior components for vehicle programs. You will lead master sections, ensure manufacturing efficiency, cost optimization, and quality while addressing design and assembly issues during launch.

Responsibilities include applying Six Sigma, DFMEA, PPAP, and coordinating with Studio Development, Purchasing, and Quality to achieve program milestones.

Formación

  • Engineering degree required.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in design and release.
  • Proficient in English and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Strong CAD skills (2D/3D) and CAE interpretation.
  • Knowledge of Body Interior systems and ergonomics.

Responsabilidades

  • Release parts in BOM systems and support Change Control processes.
  • Audit BOM and ensure PDLS alignment throughout the program.

Job Description

The D&R (Design & Release) Engineer is responsible for the design, development, validation, release, and implementation of Body Interior components and systems for assigned vehicle programs. This includes leading the development of master sections and ensuring all aspects of the design contribute to manufacturing efficiency, cost optimization, quality, craftsmanship, ergonomics, serviceability and overall vehicle performance. The D&R engineer is responsible for designing and validation of parts to comply with Legal Regulations, Corporate Requirements, Desing Rules, Manufacturing, Assembly, and Service requirements. The engineer is also responsible for parts incorporation at the Assembly Plant and addressing any design, fit/finish, or assembly issues during launch.


Responsibilities


  • Comply with Program cost, weight, quality, performance, and timing targets, including Program Milestone Deliverables.

  • 4 Days On Site in GTBC México (Naucalpan, México)

  • Understand and apply the GPDS (Global Product Development System) process.

  • Comply with and establish/maintain Program Specific Robustness Engineering Disciplines (Quality History, P–Diagram, DFMEA, SCCAF, Boundary Diagram, Campaign Prevent, Reliability and Robustness Checklist, etc.) as required.

  • Participate in the Sourcing or Re-sourcing Process along with Purchasing, Finance and Cost estimating. Develop quote package (including complexity matrix, Eng BOM, quote assumptions, Engineering specs, DFMEA, Special Characteristics and Critical Characteristics) to hand off to Purchasing on time.

  • Support Studio Development at all stages from initial theme release up to final design for ok to tool, identifying feasibility surface issues and providing feedback to studio by 2D and 3D of interior trim components.

  • Conduct package studies and Lead resolution of compatibility issues balancing affected attributes for Manufacturing, Cost, Timing, Safety, Quality, Assembly, Craftsmanship, and Ergonomics.

  • Lead CAE Studies (Attachments, Robustness, etc.) and manage resolution of issues during the development phases.

  • Complete Engineering Design by ok to tool to support static builds and robust delivery of Final Data Judgment.

  • Apply Six Sigma and 8D issue resolution methodologies, including writing deviations and non-conformance agreements.

  • Lead component design reviews and follow the TDR process (Technical Design Review).

  • Release parts in Ford’s BOM management systems (FEDE BOM & WERS) throughout the product life cycle. Support the Change Control Management process leading interface with program change control to obtain approval of attribute changes piece cost, investment and weight.

  • Audit and update the BOM (Bill of Material) with correct part levels and usages for production and prototype builds and maintain it post Job 1. Ensuring Product Design Letters (PDL) to CAD to BOM alignment throughout the life of the program.

  • Identify validation, durability, and functional tests required to meet all Regulations, Requirements and Design Rules. Establish and maintain Program Specific design validation plan that meets first pass complete by Preliminary Engineering Completion and all validation met by Final Engineering Completion

  • Resolve Digital Pre-Assembly checks, to ensure CAD compatibility per the Global Product Development System, leading the resolution off all issues with cross functional teams.

  • Lead parts implementation/Sign-off in the assembly plant and provide assistance with quality issues at all milestones. Lead resolution of any Design, Fit/Finish, Assembly component issues during launch and provide guidance after Job 1.

  • Jointly with STA (Supplier Technical Assistance), provide technical assistance to suppliers through the Supplier Engagement Process and PPAP completion. Support or lead as required Component PPAP (DFMEA, PFMEA, SC/CC list, Control Plan, etc.) and Supplier Readiness Reviews.


Qualifications


  • Engineering Degree.

  • 4+ Years Of Experience

  • English proficiency.

  • Effective communication and experience cross functional interaction.

  • General knowledge of vehicle functions and specific knowledge of Body Interior systems, Overhead Systems components.

  • Vision and knowledge of the automotive industry environment.

  • Strong 2D and 3D CAD knowledge (opening files, visualization, measurements, section development, etc.) and experience in CAE interpretation.

  • Microsoft Office management (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).

  • Interior Trim materials properties knowledge.

  • Interior Trim production processes knowledge.

  • Understanding of craftsmanship and ergonomics principles.

  • Experience with Studio Development processes and appearance feasibility.

  • Effective Project Management skills and effective cross-functional communication
