The family office of one of Mexico's most prominent families is seeking an in-house counsel with a generalist profile and solid background in either Corporate Law or International, or Tax Law to handle matters for the family office and family members. Complex negotiations across multiple jurisdictions are fundamental to the role as well as having strategic vision, and of course, discretion.

The role will entail:
  • Providing comprehensive advice on corporate, tax and regulatory matters in Mexico, USA and offshore jurisdictions.
  • Review and maintain trusts, offshore entities, and US LLCs.
  • Advise on corporate governance.
  • Develop long-term business-aligned legal strategies.
  • Design and implement complex international corporate structures for tax efficiency and asset protection.
  • Coordinate entity formations, reorganisations, mergers, and acquisitions.
  • Liaise with external tax and legal advisors across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Supervise legal budgets ensuring cost effective service.
  • Selection of specialist advisors for specific transactions.
  • Prepare shareholder and governance agreements.
  • Review real estate, yacht, aircraft and other asset transactions.
  • Negotiate leases, security, and service agreements.
  • Compliance and risk management – AML / KYC, FATCA, CRS and data privacy.
  • Liaise with fiscal authorities to ensure compliance.

Qualifications:

• Candidates should have a law degree with postgraduate studies in Corporate, International, or Tax Law. An active bar licence in Mexico is essential. Certifications in compliance or international taxation will be valued. Professional experience of at least 6 years either in a top international law firm or multi-national company, with a proven track record in complex structures and cross-border transactions is required with family office experience preferred.

Language: Spoken and written English and Spanish should be native or fluent with the ability to draft in both languages. The role will necessitate travel.
