Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in engineering, safety, environmental or related field.
  • 1-2 years’ experience preferably in a manufacturing/maquiladora environment.
  • Bilingual is a plus (Spanish/English).
  • Knowledge of occupational safety and environmental policies, current laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Day-to-day implementation of safety and environmental policies.
  • Conduct periodic safety audits/assessments to evaluate compliance to regulations and facility safety & environmental policies & procedures.
  • Develop and present compliance documentation for Federal, State and local Agencies.
  • Documents assessment findings, assists production people in resolving discrepancies.
  • Participates as member of site and company teams to assure safety factors.
  • Develops and presents training materials for Safety & Environmental topics.
  • Perform risk evaluations and determine the need for Industrial Hygiene services.
  • Participate in safety programs such as PVP, Safety Committee, Hazardous Communication, Lockout/Tagout, and Confined Space.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance in waste management, wastewater discharge, air quality, storage tanks, and spill control with waste minimization in mind.
  • Develops and presents training and ongoing support for job safety hazard analysis and plant-wide safety analysis systems.
  • Join Health, Safety and Environmental management teams to evaluate incidents and costs.
  • Comply with local, state, federal and BD safety regulations, and BD quality policies in Mexico.
  • Ensure compliance with Regulations and Standards as defined in BD Quality, Safety and Environmental Manual.

Job Description SCOPE Responsible for day-to-day safety, industrial hygiene and environmental control programs and evaluations in compliance with all federal state, local, and company policies. Participate, evaluates, and conducts periodic audits to evaluate compliance to regulations. Develops and facilitates training and on-going support for Job Safety Hazard Analysis, etc. Develops activities and documentation (license, programs, manifests) to comply with federal, state and local regulations. Comply with all local BD quality policies, procedures and practices through consistent application of sound quality assurance principles.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Day-to-day implementation of safety and environmental policies.
  • Conducts periodic safety audits / assessments to evaluate compliance to regulations and facility safety & environmental policies & procedures.

  • Participation to assure regulatory compliance in waste management, wastewater discharge, air quality, storage tank management and spill control. Be proactive at waste minimization.
  • Develops and presents training and on-going support for Job Safety Hazard Analysis. Works with appropriate personnel to implement plant-wide safety analysis systems.
  • Participate as a member of Health, Safety and Environmental management teams to evaluate risks & incidents and identify areas where costs and loss experience can be improved.
  • Comply with all local, state, federal, and BD safety regulations, policies, and procedures in Mexico.
  • Comply with all local BD quality policies, procedures, and practices through consistent application of sound quality assurance principles.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable Regulations and Standards as defined in BD Quality,Safety and environmental Manual and enterprise I.T. systems.

EDUCATION: B.S. degree in engineering, safety, environmental or related field

EXPERIENCE: 1-2 years’ experience preferably in a manufacturing/maquiladora environment. Knowledge of occupational safety and environmental policies, current laws and regulations required. Bilingual is a plus(Spanish/English)
