Plant Quality Engineer
We are seeking a proactive and skilled Plant Quality Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be a key player in ensuring product quality, process efficiency, and customer satisfaction. This role is responsible for driving continuous improvement throughout the manufacturing process and acting as a primary liaison for all customer quality-related matters.
Key Responsibilities
Process Quality & Continuous Improvement
- Monitor and analyze key quality performance indicators (KPIs) such as Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ), scrap rate, and First-Time Quality (FTQ). Lead corrective action plans and process improvement initiatives when KPIs fall below target.
- Utilize statistical tools like SPC (Statistical Process Control), Pareto charts, and other process validation methods to ensure manufacturing processes are stable and capable.
- Manage the non-conforming product process, including implementing effective containment actions and directing appropriate rework or disposition.
- Ensure all Control Plans are accurate, up-to-date, and consistently followed on the production floor.
- Conduct periodic audits of finished goods and determine appropriate sample sizes to ensure product meets all specifications.
- Provide quality-related training and guidance to production teams, including operators, team leaders, and quality technicians, on new processes, quality controls, and reaction plans.
Customer Quality & Problem Solving
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customer quality issues, ensuring timely communication and effective problem resolution.
- Lead all problem-solving activities using structured methodologies, such as the 8D process, to identify root causes and implement robust corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Validate the effectiveness of containment actions for both internal and external customers to minimize the impact of quality issues.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address customer concerns and support all quality requirements.
- Support and participate in internal and external quality system audits (e.g., ISO 9001, IATF 16949).
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
- 2+ years of experience in an automotive manufacturing quality function
- Proven experience in leading problem-solving activities and applying quality tools (8D, SPC, MSA, FMEA, etc.).
- Strong understanding and experience with Quality Management Systems (IATF 16949 and customer specific requirements).
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a strong ability to perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interface with customers and internal teams.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple customer requirements, and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
- 100% fluency in business English is required
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Powerpoint and Excel
- Proficiency in quality-related software and tools (e.g., Minitab, statistical analysis software)
