Job summary

Sulzer is seeking an experienced Estimator to join our global team in Mexico. You will estimate costs for TFS Industrial projects, prepare quotes, and set gross margins in collaboration with the outside sales force. The role involves reviewing specifications, generating schedules, and coordinating with customers to meet deadlines.

Ideal candidates have 2–5 years in industrial construction and familiarity with petrochemical projects, including pressure vessels. Travel up to 20% may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, construction science, business, or marketing preferred.
• 2–5 years’ experience in industrial construction; petrochemical exposure is a plus.
• 5+ years’ industrial field/construction experience in petrochemicals preferred, especially with pressure vessels and welding.
• Knowledge of mass transfer equipment installation.
• Experience with scheduling/planning programs such as Primavera P6.

Responsibilities

• Prepare estimates including all costs for TFS projects and set gross margin with the outside sales team.
• Generate professional proposals and review customer specs and drawings for inclusion in estimates.
• Create construction schedules covering scope, timing, tasks, and manpower loading.
• Identify tools and equipment required for each project and attend bid meetings with customers.
• Prioritize estimates to meet customer deadlines and ensure proper paperwork for accuracy.

About The Role

Responsible for estimating costs associated with TFS Industrial projects, preparing quotes and setting Gross Margin for each order with the outside sales team. Build and maintain relationships with the outside sales force and external customers.

Essential Functions

• Prepares estimates to include all costs associated with TFS projects
• Generate professional proposals
• Review all customer specifications, drawings, and special requirements and incorporate in to estimates
• Generate construction schedules to include the scope of work, timing, task duration, and manpower loadings.
• Identify tools and equipment required to perform a project
• Attend bid meetings and communicate with customers to clarify points in the bid documents.
• Prioritize estimates/proposals to meet the customers’ deadlines.
• Ensure proper paperwork is acquired for providing accurate estimates/proposals

Secondary Functions

• Build relationships with both internal and external customers
• Maintain contact with the outside sales force to discuss inquiries and provide assistance and support as required to serve the customers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Construction Science, Business, or Marketing is preferred
• 2-5 years’ experience in the industrial (Chemical Plants/Refineries) construction industry
• 5+ years’ Industrial Field/Construction experience in the petrochemical industry is preferred specifically working with pressure vessels and welding
• Knowledge of Mass Transfer Equipment installation
• Experience with scheduling/planning programs such as P6
• Ability to multi-task effectively for working on multiple estimates at the same time
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, as required in dealing effectively with customers and co-workers.
• Effective interpersonal skills as required to develop successful relationships
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and sketches related to equipment and hardware requirements and installation
• Proficiency in the use of personal computers including MS Office applications

TRAVEL: This position may require some business travel by air or car, which may require overnight stays for customer visits. Travel can be up to 20%.
