Johnson Controls, Inc. is seeking a Test Engineer in Torreón to support day-to-day testing of small tonnage screw and scroll chillers.

You will manage tests from design to data analysis and presentation to customers, leveraging LabVIEW and other tools to ensure accurate performance results. The role requires 4+ years in HVAC/R testing, a related engineering background, and strong communication with sales engineers and customers.

Formación

• Four years of direct work experience in small tonnage screw and scroll chiller testing.
• Strong HVAC/R system knowledge and diagnostics.
• Experience with test instrumentation for data acquisition and analysis.
• Ability to report technically to various levels.

What will you do?

Provide active, ongoing day-to-day testing support. This HANDS-ON position will support small tonnage Screw and scroll units.

The Test Engineer will “manage” a test throughout the process from test designand planning through execution to completion including analysis of data results and presentation of the data to external JCI customers. Ideally, this individual will possess multiple backgrounds that include aworking knowledge of screw and scroll chillers and related test facility operation, and other applicabletechnologies so they can singularly manage the testing process for individual tests. This position mayprovide test engineering support for standard and non-standard contract witness testing.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

• Interfaces with the customer for factory witness test and factory operation partners to solve someproduction issues.
• Plans and executes tests of screw and scroll chillers.
• Communicate with the sales engineer to disseminate and agree upon test plans.
• Creates test request detail of what conditions to be run to meet customer’s needs.
• Use an in-house rating program to determine chiller-rated performance.
• Performs calculations to simulate the effects of fouling.
• Acquires and provides input and sets up data acquisition software.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot the chiller if it does not operate or does not meet performance requirements.
• Diagnoses and resolves issues with the data acquisition system.
• Communicate results and resolution of issues with sales engineers and externalcustomers.
• Provides a summary of testing results to product engineering for further analysis.
• Presents to customers the design and set up of the lab function.
• Presents to customers methods and records for calibration of instrumentation
• Presents to customers an overview of AHRI and Eurovent testing procedures and tolerances.
• Works with sales engineers and customers to resolve concerns or misunder tandings in regard to testing.
• Participates in the revision of standard procedures, test Standards and processes.
• Uses experience to develop or recommend the development of new procedures, processes orresources geared to provide more efficient, accurate, or advanced testing services.
• Adheres to the Company’s Code of Conduct and Business Ethics standards

What are we looking for?

• Bachelor's degree in IMA, IME or related field.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English.
• A minimum of four (4) years of direct work experience in small tonnage screw and scroll chillerequipment development testing, including a good understanding of HVAC/R systems, concepts,and diagnostics, as applied to both test subjects and test facilities.
• A background in engineering and testing, with the use of a variety of test instrumentation to performtest data acquisition and data analysis, test troubleshooting and diagnostics, technical reporting,and related communication at various levels is required.
• Certain related experience may be considered a plus. Specific areas, as applied to HVAC/Requipement:
• Electronics/software (esp. starters, variable frequency drives, control systems).
• Sound and/or vibration testing – instrumentation, acquisition/analysis software. (esp.MAARS; Bently Nevada; Bruel & Kjaer).
• General test data acquisition and sensors – hardware, software (esp. LabVIEW,National Instruments).
