Amentum seeks an HVAC Master Technician to support a unique US Navy program on Diego Garcia. The role involves performing inspections, testing, maintenance, and repairs on HVAC systems, including large-scale chilled water and DX plants.

Ideal candidates bring at least five years of advanced HVAC/refrigeration experience and hold a recognized trade qualification in HVAC/RAC. International travel and security clearances may be required, with a strong emphasis on safety and environmental compliance.

Formación

  • Five years of experience in advanced HVAC and refrigeration maintenance, repair, installation, troubleshooting, or related trade work.
  • Advanced trade qualification in HVAC, refrigeration and air conditioning (HVAC/RAC) or equivalent; NVQ Level 3 acceptable.
  • Current HVAC/refrigeration certifications including refrigerant handling where required.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and guide others.

Responsabilidades

  • Perform maintenance and repair of chilled water and DX centralized air conditioning plant equipment.
  • Support VAV and CV air distribution systems with 100-ton capacity or greater.
  • Conduct inspections, fault diagnosis, testing and preventive maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot and repair HVAC systems to ensure safe operation per guidelines.
  • Plan and schedule maintenance activities; document results and actions taken.
  • Supervise and provide technical guidance to team members as needed.
  • Ensure adherence to environmental safety regulations and refrigerant handling practices.
  • Perform other duties consistent with the position as assigned.

Amentum is seeking an HVAC Master Technician to support a unique US Navy program on the island of Diego Garcia. TheHVAC Master Technician, designated as key personnel, will perform and support inspections, testing, maintenance, and repairs on HVAC systems, ensuring optimal system performance and operation.

Job Responsibilities
  • Performing maintenance and repair ofchilled water and Direct Expansion (DX) type centralized air conditioning plant equipment.
  • Supporting Variable Air Volume (VAV) and Constant Volume type air distribution systems with capacities of100 tons or greater.
  • Conducting inspections, fault diagnosis, testing, and preventive maintenance for HVAC systems.
  • Performing troubleshooting and implementing repairs to ensure the effective and safe operation of HVAC systems in compliance with established guidelines and standards.
  • Assisting with planning and scheduling maintenance activities for HVAC systems.
  • Documenting inspections, test results, maintenance, and repairs in compliance with regulatory and organizational requirements.
  • Supervising and providing technical guidance to team members as needed, ensuring work is performed efficiently and safely.
  • Ensuring adherence to environmental safety regulations and safe refrigerant handling practices.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned that are consistent with the nature and level of the position.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of five years of experience performing advanced HVAC and refrigeration maintenance, repair, installation, troubleshooting, or related trade work.
  • Advanced technical/vocational certificate, diploma, apprenticeship or other recognized trade qualification in HVAC, refrigeration and air conditioning (HVAC/RAC), or a closely related discipline; City & Guilds NVQ Level 3 or recognized national equivalent is acceptable.
  • Must possess current certification(s) applicable to the HVAC/refrigeration trade, including refrigerant handling certification where required by the applicable jurisdiction.
  • Expert level trade skills to independently perform assigned HVAC/refrigeration tasks with no supervision.
  • Ability to provide technical direction and/or supervision to less experienced trade personnel.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in troubleshooting, inspecting, testing, and repairing large-scale HVAC systems.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to HVAC systems and refrigerants.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be in possession of a valid passport and be able to travel internationally.
  • Passport should be valid for a minimum of one (1) year or more at the time of hiring.
  • Ability to obtain country-specific visas per the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide.
  • Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain requirements for the duration of deployment.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
  • Must read, speak, and comprehend English to the extent that they can perform the contract requirements and comply with installation emergency procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience in an austere OCONUS (Outside the Continental United States) environment with a multi-national workforce is preferred.
  • Valid country driver’s license.
  • Strong understanding of environmental safety and compliance requirements relating to refrigerants and HVAC system operations.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, organizational, and time management skills.

Working Environment

This position is located on Diego Garcia, British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT), a remote overseas location supporting U.S. Government operations. Employees may work in office, industrial, warehouse, port, airfield, and outdoor environments and may be exposed to high temperatures, humidity, inclement weather, noise, dust, and uneven terrain. Work schedules may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours based on operational requirements.

Physical Requirements

Requirements may include prolonged sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, lifting up to 25 pounds regularly and 50 pounds occasionally, and working in both indoor and outdoor environments. Must be able to meet all medical, security, and deployment requirements associated with assignment to a remote overseas location.
