The Mexico Public School District is seeking a Physical Education and Health Teacher to deliver standards-based instruction aligned with district and Missouri Learning Standards. This role promotes physical fitness, wellness, teamwork, and lifelong healthy habits in a high school setting.

The teacher will plan engaging lessons, differentiate for diverse learners, and collaborate with staff to support student development and safety.

Formación

• Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Education, or related field.
• Valid Missouri teaching certificate for high school Physical Education.
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate

Responsabilidades

• Plan and deliver standards-based instruction in physical education and health aligned with district curriculum and Missouri Learning Standards
• Teach skills related to fitness, movement, sportsmanship, personal wellness, and lifelong physical activity
• Provide instruction in health topics including nutrition, mental health, substance abuse prevention, personal safety, and overall wellness
• Facilitate individual and team activities that promote physical development, collaboration, and healthy lifestyles
• Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs, interests, and physical abilities
• Integrate technology and cross-curricular strategies to enhance instruction when appropriate
• Maintain a safe, structured, and positive gymnasium, classroom, and outdoor learning environment
• Promote teamwork, respect, and responsible participation in both physical education and health settings
• Ensure proper safety procedures and supervision during physical activities, classroom instruction, and equipment use
• Support students’ confidence, goal-setting, decision-making, and social-emotional development
• Encourage healthy choices and positive lifestyle habits among students
• Assess student progress in physical skills, participation, and knowledge of health and wellness concepts
• Maintain accurate records and provide timely feedback to students and families
• Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress, expectations, and concerns
• Participate in parent-teacher conferences and student support meetings
• Collaborate with staff, coaches, school counselors, and interdisciplinary teams
• Participate in professional development related to physical education, health education, and student wellness
• Support school wellness initiatives and promote a healthy school culture
• Support school improvement initiatives and data-driven decision-making
• Follow district policies, safety guidelines, and professional standards
• Abide by state statutes, school board policies, and regulations
• Attend meetings as assigned
• Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
• Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation
• Remain current on instructional practices in education
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Building Principal
