Allegion is seeking a Hardware Engineer I to support sustaining engineering for electro-mechanical locking products. You will analyze circuits, modify PCB designs, update BOMs, and work with contract manufacturers to deploy changes into production.

You will perform root cause analysis, validate components, ensure compliance with BHMA, FCC and other standards, and support NPI projects while coordinating with Quality and Manufacturing teams.

Formación

  • Bachelor's degree in Electronics or Electrical Engineering.
  • 2+ years in the electronic hardware industry.
  • Proficiency in schematic capture and circuit debugging.
  • Knowledge of analog and digital electronics, power management, and embedded hardware systems.
  • Familiarity with FCC, UL, BHMA, or equivalent regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with New Product Introduction (NPI), Engineering Change Notice (ECN) processes, BOM management, and manufacturing support.
  • Fluent English communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and written communication skills.

Responsabilidades

  • Perform root cause analysis of product quality issues, customer complaints, and supplier-related concerns to identify containment actions, implement corrective actions, and recommend long-term solutions.
  • Evaluate and qualify alternative electronic components to mitigate supply chain risks and support cost reduction initiatives.
  • Modify PCBA assembly drawings to support manufacturing processes, address quality requirements, and implement product or process improvements.
  • Update and maintain PCBA Bills of Materials (BOMs) to support product changes, ensuring accurate release and implementation through Engineering Change Notices (ECNs).
  • Support the development and implementation of PCB design changes, including component footprint updates, modify solder mask and silkscreen layers, and incorporate moderate circuit revisions to support product improvements.
  • Collaborate with contract manufacturers to implement and validate PCBA coating changes, low-pressure molding (LPM) adjustments, and other process improvements to support product quality and manufacturability.
  • Conduct bench-level testing and validation of firmware updates on PCBAs, identifying and resolving issues prior to production implementation.
  • Represent hardware engineering expertise on cross-functional teams, providing technical guidance and influencing product design change decisions.
  • Participate in New Product Introduction (NPI) projects by facilitating the transfer of responsibilities from Design Engineering to Sustaining Engineering while tracking and closing open items from the design phase.
  • Support product compliance efforts by conducting validations and reporting activities to ensure adherence to BHMA, FCC, and other applicable qualification and regulatory standards.
  • Provide feedback to VAVE department on cost reduction initiatives and product improvement.
  • Collaborate with the VAVE team to evaluate cost-reduction initiatives and product enhancement opportunities, leveraging historical product knowledge and engineering expertise.

Hardware Engineer I

Responsible for supporting sustaining engineering activities for Allegion electro-mechanical locking products throughout their lifecycle. This role performs electronic engineering tasks including component evaluation and qualification, circuit analysis, PCB design modifications, and engineering documentation updates. Key responsibilities include collaborating with cross-functional teams to assess, implement, and validate product improvements and engineering changes. The Hardware Engineer works closely with contract manufacturers and Allegion production facilities to coordinate the successful deployment of product design changes into production. The position partners with Quality and Manufacturing teams to investigate product and production issues, perform root cause analysis, develop corrective actions, and support implementation of containment and continuous improvement initiatives.

What You Will Do

What You Will Need To Succeed
