Bluelight is a leading software consultancy seeking a senior backend-focused developer to design and implement scalable API services. You will work with Node.js, TypeScript, and React in a fast-paced environment, building secure, multi-tenant systems and integrating diverse services on AWS.

The role emphasizes high-quality code, thorough testing, and ownership of deliverables within an international client base. Remote-friendly with collaboration across regions.

• 5+ years professional software development experience (backend-focused).
• Strong experience with Node.js, TypeScript, and JavaScript.
• Experience building low-latency API services in AWS.
• Experience building scalable RESTful APIs.
• Experience with SDK integrations to other services.
• Experience with PostgreSQL/AuroraDB and Row-Level Security (RLS).
• Experience building secure multi-tenant environments.

Requirements

• 5+ years professional software development experience (backend-focused)
• Strong professional experience with Node.js, TypeScript, and JavaScript
• Experience building low-latency API services in AWS
• Experience building scalable RESTful APIs
• Experience with SDK integrations to other services
• Experience with PostgreSQL/AuroraDB, including Row-Level Security (RLS)
• Experience building secure multi-tenant environments
• Comfortable writing raw SQL and managing schema migrations (e.g., node-postgres, node-pg-migrate)
• Professional experience with React
• Strong testing practices, including integration tests against real databases and failure-mode/fault-injection testing
• Experience working with AI coding assistants as part of daily development
• CI/CD application creation and maintenance skills
• Solid understanding of full stack development, with the ability to contribute to frontend work when needed
• Substantial background working with large, complex systems
• Ability to overlap US business hours
• Bachelor's degree required

Preferred Qualifications
