The Expeditor is responsible for ensuring the timely flow of materials, parts, and supplies throughout the production process. This role works closely with suppliers, procurement, production, and inventory teams to track orders, expedite deliveries, and resolve issues to meet production schedules and customer demand. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Order Management: Track and manage purchase orders to ensure timely delivery of materials and parts. Update internal systems and stakeholders on order status and potential delays.
- SupplierCoordination: Communicate with suppliers to confirm delivery dates, expedite urgent orders, and resolve any issues impacting supply chain flow.
- Production Support: Work closely with the production team to identify and prioritize critical materials to avoid delays. Ensure materials are available at the right time to support production schedules.
- Inventory Control: Assist in managing inventory levels by working with the warehouse and procurement teams to balance stock levels with production needs.
- Problem Resolution: Identify and troubleshoot bottlenecks or delays in the supply chain and implement solutions in collaboration with relevant departments.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of all expediting activities, prepare regular status reports, and provide updates on any potential disruptions to production.
- Source Components from local approved vendors. Partner with Procurements to find alternate sources of materials when applicable.
- Continuous monitoring of planned orders, purchase orders, demand fluctuation and associated material requirements to meet engineering’s commitments.
- Management of incoming and outgoing engineering shipments. Adding special notes and instructions for receiving and manufacturing for all orders to ensure they are processed correctly upon receipt.
- Initiate and implement appropriate actions to resolve problems; Resolve discrepancies with internal customers and suppliers.
- Ensure continuity of the supply chain for uninterrupted flow of materials and services related to prototype and production.
- Update department leads and management regarding the status of assigned projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, International Business, Management, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience as a Planner/Expeditor.
- Strong organizational skills with great attention to detail.
- Proven ability to multitask and prioritize projects with adaptability and urgency while meeting deadlines.
- Knowledge of inventory control systems.
- Proficient in ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.).
- Familiarity with database systems.
- Ability to work effectively with vendors and build strong relationships.
