Descripción de la vacante

Ford in Mexico is seeking an experienced eDrive systems engineering leader to own propulsion system design for future models. You will coordinate cross-functional alignment on assumptions and sign-off requirements while managing both project delivery and technical problem solving.

The role requires leading cross functional teams, strong writing and presentation skills, and MBSE and CAD experience to drive system designs from concept through sign-off in a vehicle program environment.

Formación

  • Knowledge of systems engineering principles and prior experience authoring requirements.
  • Basic understanding of electrified powertrain system function and attributes at subsystem and vehicle levels.
  • Strong GPDS knowledge.

Responsabilidades

  • Lead overall internal systems design with internal component D&R engineers from Underbody Systems Engineering and Electrified Powertrain Engineering.
  • Perform system design rule assessments.
  • Design cooling/lubrication for the system.
  • Assess GVWR, VMAX, torque limit, duty cycle and durability.
  • Cascade requirements to component engineers and manage sub system design specifications.
  • Sign off on layout and stack up.
  • Align overall component and system testing.
  • Weight management/optimization.
  • Collaborate with vehicle program team to ensure external interfaces execution.
  • Lead vehicle package signoff.
  • Manage vehicle attribute interfaces.
  • Serve as installed system lead.
  • Interface with internal manufacturing team including PTME and VO.

Join a dedicated team at the forefront of automotive electrified propulsion system design, development, and integration. This job position includes ownership of eDrive unit systems engineering for future model designs and vehicles.

Candidates will need to be confident with coordination of cross functional technical alignment on assumptions and sign off requirements. This position requires an equal aptitude for both project management, delivery, and technical problem solving.

  • Work with internal component D&R engineers from both Underbody Systems Engineering and Electrified Powertrain Engineering to lead overall internal systems design
  • Systems design rule assessments
  • System cooling/lubrication design
  • GVWR, VMAX, Torque limit, duty cycle and durability assessments
  • Requirements cascade to component engineers, sub system design specification management
  • Layout and stack up sign off
  • Overall component and system test alignment
  • Weight management/optimization
  • Work with vehicle program team to ensure proper execution of external interfaces
  • Vehicle package signoff
  • Vehicle attribute interface
  • As installed system lead
  • Interface with internal manufacturing team (including PTME and VO)
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or similar degree (MS preferred)
  • 4+ yrs of experience managing /delivering powertrain programs through launch
  • Proactive self starter that can handle multiple assignments at a time
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills, self motivates to deliver results with minimal direction
  • Desire to lead cross functional working teams
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Excellent writing, speaking, interpersonal skills and presentation
  • MBSE (model based systems engineering) experience
  • CAD experience

Specific abilities, knowledge and tools that would be helpful:

  • Knowledge of systems engineering principles and prior experience authoring requirements
  • Basic understanding of electrified powertrain system function and attributes at the subsystem and vehicles levels desired
  • Strong GPDS (global product development system) knowledge
