Shure is seeking a Senior Metrology Engineer to lead GD&T and dimensional metrology efforts. You will guide measurement methods, train operators, and drive equipment strategy while collaborating with global labs to improve inspection techniques and support product design intent.

Responsibilities include developing measurement plans, mentoring engineers, and coordinating with design and reliability teams to implement advanced metrology solutions across complex products.

Formación

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience.
• Advanced knowledge of ASME Y14.5, ISO and other standards.
• Advanced knowledge of dimensional metrology and related technologies.
• Ability to interpret and establish measurement methods for 1–3D applications using CMMs.
• Understanding of measurement applications and data distribution effects.
• Ability to mentor engineers in ASME Y14.5.1 concepts.
• Experience with precision measurement equipment and development of standards.
• Desirable: ASME Certified Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing Professional, Senior level.
• Ability to work independently and in teams.

We are looking for a Senior-level Metrology Engineer with senior-level expertise in Calypso, PolyWorks, OGP Vision Systems, GD&T (ASME Y14.5), and Siemens NX (CAD Design).

In this role, you will work under the guidance of the Reliability & Quality Lab Manager, collaborating with global metrology labs to enhance our incoming inspection measurement methodologies, provide training, and manage equipment.

Performs advanced measurement development initiatives supporting corporate directives to meet market requirements (key interaction with principal engineers, engineering managers, and directors).

Measurement development initiatives will include but not be limited to: developing corporate measurement technology plans, analysis, determining implications of measurement uncertainty, influencing internal and external projects for new technologies and novel applications to support Shure needs.

Responsibilities

• Serves as a subject matter expert for matters regarding geometric dimensioning and tolerance application
• Responsible for setting the direction in dimensional metrology.
• Responsible for the development and standardization of mechanical inspection and measurement methodologies and operator training.
• Assesses metrology equipment capabilities as well as assist in the procurement and implementation of new equipment as needed.
• Applies advanced concepts and understanding of mathematical definitions of GD&T (e.g., ASME Y14.5.1) and their implications to support design intent (of product, tooling, machine)
• Makes recommendation on optimum design of fixtures, tooling, machines, sensors, and measurement systems by working with Design Engineering (product and machine)
• Develops and maintains expertise standing in the field of dimensional metrology through networking, research, and continuous education.
• Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience.
• Intermediate knowledge and experience in applying design standards including ASME Y14.5, ISO and other National, International, and Industrial standards
• Advanced knowledge of dimensional metrology and/or an applied technology in that field.
• Able to interpret, test and establish measurement methods and programs of 1, 2 and 3 dimensional applications using contact and non-contact computer controlled CMM’s
• Understanding of measurement applications, sampling effects and weighted distribution effects on measurement algorithms.
• Ability to apply advanced concepts and understanding of mathematical concepts (e.g., significant experience training/mentoring engineers in applying concepts in ASME Y14.5.1).
• Experience should exist in the following areas:
  • Use and specification of precision measurement equipment in a metrology environment,
  • Development and/or application of standards
  • Preferred: ASME Certified Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing Professional, Senior level.
  • Able to use professional concepts in developing resolution to critical issues and broad design matters.
  • Able to exercise wide latitude in determining objectives and approaches to critical assignments.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Ability to work independently in analyzing and implementing solutions to problems.
