GKN Aerospace in Mexicali seeks a skilled engineer to determine optimal manufacturing methods for aerospace products and coordinate production to meet customer and government requirements.

You will support special welding processes (GTAW/PAW), develop process controls, and prepare tooling and documentation. Requires 2+ years in aerospace manufacturing, CAD skills, and NADCAP familiarity.

Formación

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering with aerospace, mechanical or industrial focus.
  • Minimum 2 years of proven experience in relevant manufacturing processes.
  • Proficient in GTAW and PAW welding; titanium alloy welding experience is a plus.

Responsabilidades

Descripción del empleo

  • Under routine supervision, determines, from simple to complex, generally customer‑specific programs, the optimal manufacturing methods and processes for producing company products.
  • Generally, follows a product through to satisfactory production, coordinating the manufacturing processes involved to meet customer, government and company requirements.
  • Provide support to Special processes as Ti Welding, support and trainer in both manual and automated PAW and GTAW, X-Ray, surface preparation, cleaning processes and coatings.
  • Create, develop, plan, determine process controls, operations and processes documentation per NADCAP or other applicable specifications to fabricate quality parts and comply with audits related to special processes.
  • Analyzes engineering design documents to establish manufacturing methods and processes to manufacture a component including creating conceptual sketches and initiating the design and building of required tooling within established budgets and submits for appropriate approvals
  • Prepares a bill of materials for procurement of raw material and describes outside vendor services needed for the manufacture of a component (heat treat, anodizing, painting, Welding, etc.)
  • Instructs production worker/shop supervisors in proper use of tools and implementation of planned methods and processes and provides technical support as problems occur, analyzing and research solutions and implementing corrective action as needed.
  • Bachelor’s degree from Engineering of Aerospace, mechanical, industrial.
  • Min 2 years of proven experience in similar manufacturing processes
  • English 90%.
  • Understanding of fabrication, assembly and shop math, including algebra, trigonometry and special relations
  • Knowledge in GTAW and PAW welding processes
  • Knowledge and experience in titanium alloy welding fabrications
  • Experience in aerospace welding and quality codes and standards
  • Knowledge in DMAIC, 5 Why’s, Ishikawa, Pareto, APQP/ PPAP, FMEA MSA, Process Control, Problem Solving.
  • Basic CNC knowledge
  • Lean Manufacturing knowledge (6’s, 6m’s, eight lean wastes, standard work, VSM, etc.)
  • AS Specs, NADCAP and other Welding specifications (AWS)
  • Engineering drawings interpretation.
  • GD&T.
  • Proper EPP use, follow safety rules, Usage only authorized tools and equipment.
  • Active Mexican Passport.
  • Active US Visa.
Desirable
  • Experience in PAW welding titanium in an aerospace environment
  • lean principals & SPC for welding processes
  • Experience with AMET process controllers
  • Experience with chemical cleaning process (etch)
  • Auto CAD software and Microsoft office utilization.
  • NX12 CAD
  • Soft skills (Emotional intelligence, conflict management, good attitude, win to win thinking).
  • Professional integrity.
  • Coaching skills.
  • Must display good interpersonal, organizational, and verbal/written skills
