SBM Offshore is seeking an Electrical Supervisor to lead electrical maintenance on offshore vessels. You will ensure asset integrity, supervise crews, and coordinate with subcontractors, inspectors and management. Strong English and at least 5 years offshore experience are essential.

The role requires knowledge of PTW, HV/LV switching, and safety procedures, with responsibility for maintaining asset performance and ensuring regulatory compliance. Offshore environment with safety at the core.

Formación

  • Qualified to at least HNC/HND or NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Maintenance Engineering.
  • Offshore petrochemical experience is preferred with supervisory exposure.
  • Proficiency in English at CEFR B2 level or higher.

Responsabilidades

  • Maintain and adjust the condition of electrical assets (systems, equipment, UPS, batteries, etc.).
  • Monitor performance and assess electrical assets per MMS schedules.
  • Diagnose faults and apply appropriate tests and actions promptly.
  • Monitor pollution control measures and ensure compliant disposal.
  • Manage and supervise department personnel and subcontractors effectively.
  • Execute emergency response roles and drills as required.

Background
  • The Electrical Supervisor will exhibit exemplary safety and supervisory skills in all matters pertaining to electrical maintenance works on and pertinent to the vessel. They are responsible for ensuring its subordinates are competent to carry out their allotted tasks and confirming and clarifying the status of electrical personnel, (whether CEP or LAEP or LEP)
Authority
  • Safety, competence, and maintenance related to electrical systems and equipment, subordinate personnel, subcontractors, inspectors, and external and ad hoc services. They liaise effectively with other key management personnel.
Accountable For: Responsibilities & Standards

Maintain and Adjust the Condition of Electrical Assets: (System, Equipment, UPS, Batteries, Generators Switchboards, Motors, Wiring, Portable Tools, etc.)

  • Comply with relevant authorization procedures, safe working practices and specific instructions.
  • Complete maintenance in an agreed timescale, using safe and appropriate methods and agreed procedures.
  • Ensure resources and spares are planned for and used cost effectively.
  • Ensure the correct, current operating requirements are available for reference.
  • Ensure any assets which have been maintained or had parameters adjusted still comply with specified operating requirements with minimum disruption and with the specified methods, tools and materials.
  • Monitor and record any maintenance or adjustments accurately in work history in MMS.

Monitor and Assess the Performance and Condition of Electrical Assets

  • Obtain information or parameters from reliable sources using specified methods (Inspection ports, connections, vendor documentary information, instrument readings, diagnostic equipment).
  • Use monitoring equipment or procedures correctly to assess the condition of electrical assets.
  • Ensure monitoring and checks are carried out in line with specified MMS timescales and schedules.
  • Record and communicate monitored outcomes accurately and in timely fashion to raise the effectiveness of CMMS.
  • Compare current performance with previous assessments and act where differences must be addressed.

Diagnose Faults in Electrical Assets

  • Respond promptly to problems in line with approved procedures.
  • Select appropriate tests and diagnostic procedures and apply them methodically.
  • Clarify the nature of problems with electrical assets.
  • Determine the cause and extent of problems in the performance and condition of electrical systems or assets.
  • Use the results of inspections to determine the appropriate actions to take.
  • Record an accurate and full description in the appropriate document history.

Monitor and Maintain Pollution Control Measures

  • Sample and check that controlled process discharges from area of responsibility to the environment are within prescribed limits.
  • Identify and halt unplanned discharges where possible, and report immediately according to policy, procedure and regulation.
  • Equipment, waste or other materials for disposal are dealt with according to the correct procedure.
  • Resources such as Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) materials tools and spares are not wasted or used inefficiently.

Manage and Supervise Effectively

  • Establish effective relationships with colleagues and subcontractors.
  • Establish scope of work clearly (briefings, toolbox talks, presentations.)
  • Plan and control use of resources effectively. (Personnel, time, materials, transport, IT).
  • Promote training and competency assurance throughout the department in line with Company goals for the Unit.
  • Encourage and support all department personnel to achieve training and competency targets and plan for appropriate time allocation for this area of work.
  • Objective and consistent in assessment and appraisal of subordinates and subcontractors.
  • Make recommendations and improvements in working practices for greater safety, efficiency and profitability.

Emergency Response

  • Carry Out Emergency Response role.
  • Demonstrate competence in Emergency Response drills and exercises.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Qualified to at least HNC / HND, or NVQ Level 3 or recognized equivalent in Electrical Maintenance Engineering.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience preferred including 3 years offshore petrochemical experience desired.
  • 3 years’ experience as Supervisor with prior Senior Authorized position.
  • Excellent practical knowledge of PTW, Electrical Isolation Standards, Risk Assessment, Power Management System, Generation on LV.
  • COMP-EX Certified.
  • Preferred courses achieved: HV Protection Relays and HVLV Switching.
  • Proficiency in English at a minimum of B2 level according to the CEFR international standard.
