Vertiv Co seeks an Electrical Engineer to contribute to the release of CRAC products within a cross-functional development group. You will provide support and leadership to other engineers while managing multiple tasks in a dynamic environment and solving complex problems with little precedence.

The role involves collaborating with mechanical, electrical, process engineering, production, and offering teams; performing calculations; designing CAD layouts; and developing BOMs in PLM/PDM tools.

Formación

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field from an accredited college or university.
  • 3+ years of career experience in new product development as an individual contributor.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and work well in a dynamic team.
  • Proven history of delivering quality products to market through the product development process.
  • Excellent project management and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Proficient in 2D & 3D CAD software, CREO preferred.
  • Knowledge of NEC (NFPA70), UL 508A.

Responsabilidades

  • Design new computer room air conditioning (CRAC) products.
  • Collaborate across mechanical, electrical, process engineering, production and offering teams; participate in design reviews and cost targeting.
  • Perform engineering calculations to verify design requirements.
  • Create/revise electrical box and panel layouts; ensure proper component placement and code compliance.
  • Select and evaluate electrical components, instrumentation, and control devices.
  • Design/revise 2D/3D CAD for electro-mechanical assemblies and wiring harnesses; produce schematics.
  • Develop BOMs and product definitions in a PLM/PDM system to support reuse and manufacturing.
  • Develop solutions to complex problems with ingenuity; apply new ideas as needed.
  • Implement product changes to address field issues and support service.

Job Summary

Electrical Engineer will contribute to the release of new Computer Room Air Conditioning (CRAC) products; will work in a cross-functional development group; provide support and leadership to other engineers; manage a variety of tasks and activities in a dynamic environment; and solve complex problems where no precedence exists.

Responsibilities
  • Design new computer room air conditioning (CRAC) products
  • Collaboration across the disciplines of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, process engineering, as well as production and offering teams. Work with these teams for design reviews, meeting cost metrics, and brainstorming around customer pain points.
  • Performs a variety of engineering calculations using traditional engineering methods to verify design requirements
  • Create, evaluate, select and review electrical box and electrical panel layouts, ensuring proper component placement, component selection and compliance with applicable codes and standards.
  • Selecting and evaluating electrical components, instrumentation, and control devices.
  • Design/develop/create/review/revise 2D and 3D revision-controlled CAD for electro-mechanical assemblies, point‑to‑point wire harnesses, wire routings, wire and fuse sizing, connection drawings, customer-facing electrical diagrams (schematics) using a Product Data Management (PDM) tool.
  • Develop/create/review/revise bills of material (BOM) and product definitions in a Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tool to support re-use of existing designs, manufacturing, quality, and service
  • Develop solutions to complex problems where little or no precedence exists - the use of ingenuity and creativity is regularly required
  • Implement product changes to solve field issues, support service department
Extended Responsibilities
  • Work with software team to develop and verify CRAC system controls
  • Support lab facilities with engineering prototypes and testing
  • Support manufacturing during manufacturing prototypes, manufacturing pilot builds
  • Participate in Design For Manufacturability (DFM) and Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEAs)
  • Participate in identification of cost reduction opportunities and in the design and development of cost reduction changes
Basic Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or related degree from an accredited college or university
  • 3+ years of career experience in new product development as an individual contributor
  • Ability to work and multi-task in a fast-paced environment independently and as a member of a dynamic team; offer and receive constructive criticism
  • Demonstrated history of delivering quality products to market with understanding and respect for phases of the product development process
  • Excellent project management skills and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proficient in 2D & 3D CAD software, preferred CREO 4.0 and greater
  • Knowledge of NEC (NFPA70), UL 508A
Preferred Requirements
  • Knowledge of NEC (NFPA79), IEEE 519, UL508A SB, UL60335-2-40, or equivalent CSA/UL standards
  • VFD programming and troubleshooting experience
  • Experience with communications and interconnects standards and protocols including RS485, CAN, and Ethernet
