Siemens Mobility in Querétaro, MX is seeking an Experienced Electrical Design Engineer specializing in Protection & Control Panels. The role is based at QRO, MX, designing electrical, mechanical and system drawings for protection panels.

You will develop logic diagrams, protect schemes, and prepare FAT/SAT procedures while collaborating with a team to meet standards and customer requirements. Travel ~5% and advanced English are expected.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in electrical/electronic/electromechanical engineering.
• Minimum 5 years direct experience in electrical design in power systems protection and control.
• Experience as a technical lead engineer for electrical panel design projects.
• Experience with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, or AUCOTEC.
• Ability to read DC/AC schematics and one-/three-line diagrams for substations.
• Advanced knowledge of Visio and Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge of protection relays and related software (Siemens/GE/SEL/ABB).
• Communication networks and protocols (IEC61850, DNP, Modbus, PROFINET).
• Travel ~5% as required.
• Advanced English level for technical/business conversations.

Electrical Design Engineer - Protection & Control Panels

We are looking for an Experienced Electrical Design Engineer – Protection & Control Panels. This position will be based at QRO, MX.

• Design Electrical, Mechanical and System Drawings of Protection and Control Panels in accordance with customer specifications and guidelines, using design software and drawing tools.
• Develop logic diagrams and protection schemes based on technical drawings and further customer specifications.
• Prepare (FAT & SAT) Factory & Site Acceptance Test procedures for protection systems projects.
• Collaborate with a team of professionals to develop electrical Systems that meet industry standards, and customer requirements.
• Be a technical leader in projects or lead other team members in project activities.
• Be one of our primary customer interfaces, including trouble shooting and commissioning support.
• Provide technical support throughout the project lifecycle, including design, implementation, and commissioning phases.
• Occasionally provide technical support to the sales team with the development of project scope of work, sales estimates, and proposals.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical/ Electronic / Electromechanical Engineering.
• A minimum of 5 years of direct experience in electrical design in the Power Systems protection and Control Engineering Field.
• Experience working as a Technical Lead Engineer for Electrical Panel Design projects.
• Experience working with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, or AUCOTEC Engineering Base Software.
• Experience producing technical documentation for Protection and Control systems for Substations such as Logic Diagrams, Sequences of Operations, FDS, and test procedures.
• Ability to read and fully understand DC and AC schematics, three- and one-line diagrams for Medium and/or High Voltage substations systems.
• Advanced Knowledge of Microsoft Visio tools.
• Advanced Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Applied knowledge of transmission and distribution protection relays; capable of designing and specifying them; capable of approving and supervising the designs of other engineers.
• Advanced knowledge of Siemens, GE, SEL, ABB, and others relay/automation products and associated software.
• Communication Network Technologies, including Design and hardware configuration.
• Communication protocols experience such as IEC61850 (MMS/GOOSE/SMV), DNP, Modbus, IEC103, IEC101, IEC104, PROFINET, PROFIBUS.
• Knowledge of ANSI standards related to Protection and Electrical Panel Design.
• Automation or Protection commissioning experience.
• Factory or Site testing experience in Protection and Automation systems
• Around 5% of travel is expected depending on project assignments and requirements.
• Advanced English level (Able to have technical and business conversations)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of Protection and Automation Systems of Electrical Systems.
• Demonstrated knowledge of UL 508A requirements for protection and automation control panels.
• Applied knowledge of Medium and High Voltage Protection
• a.Medium voltage protection schemes (including design of transfer schemes and reverse interlocking schemes)
• b.Generator Protection
• c.Line Differential and Distance Protection
• Experience in designing Protection and Automation Panels for utilities.
• Professional Engineer license (PE).
• Experience working with Engineering Base (EB) Software-AUCOTEC and the Global Engineering Library (GEL) database for design.
• Experience working with MicroStation Software.
• Experience working with EPLAN.
• Knowledge of ANSI and IEC standards related to Protection and Electrical Panel Design.
