Siemens is seeking an Experienced Electrical Design Engineer – Protection & Control Panels based in QRO, MX. The role requires 5+ years in electrical design for power systems protection and control, with hands-on experience in panel design leadership, and proficiency in AutoCAD/EB/AUCOTEC and multiple relay products.

The successful candidate will work with international standards, perform complex documentation, and travel up to 5% as required. Strong English communication is essential.

Formación

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical/electronic/electromechanical engineering.
• Minimum 5 years direct experience in electrical design for Power Systems protection and control.
• Experience as Technical Lead Engineer for Electrical Panel Design projects.
• Experience with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, or AUCOTEC.
• Experience producing documentation for protection and control for substations (logic diagrams, Sequences of Operations, FDS, and test procedures).
• Ability to read DC and AC schematics and single-/three-line diagrams for HV substations.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Visio and MS Office.
• Applied knowledge of protection relays and approving designs.
• Advanced knowledge of Siemens, GE, SEL, ABB relay/automation products.
• Knowledge of communication networks and protocols (IEC61850, DNP, Modbus, IEC103/IEC101/IEC104, Profinet, PROFIBUS).
• Knowledge of ANSI standards related to protection and electrical panel design.
• Protection commissioning and testing experience.
• Up to ~5% travel depending on project.
• Advanced English level for technical/business conversations.

We are looking for an Experienced Electrical Design Engineer – Protection & Control Panels. This position will be based at QRO, MX.

You’ll win us over by having the following qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical/ Electronic / Electromechanical Engineering.
• A minimum of 5 years of direct experience in electrical design in the Power Systems protection and Control Engineering Field.
• Experience working as a Technical Lead Engineer for Electrical Panel Design projects.
• Experience working with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, or AUCOTEC Engineering Base Software.
• Experience producing technical documentation for Protection and Control systems for Substations such as Logic Diagrams, Sequences of Operations, FDS, and test procedures.
• Ability to read and fully understand DC and AC schematics, three- and one-line diagrams for Medium and/or High Voltage substations systems.
• Advanced Knowledge of Microsoft Visio tools.
• Advanced Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Applied knowledge of transmission and distribution protection relays; capable of designing and specifying them; capable of approving and supervising the designs of other engineers.
• Advanced knowledge of Siemens, GE, SEL, ABB, and others relay/automation products and associated software.
• Communication Network Technologies, including Design and hardware configuration.
• Communication protocols experience such as IEC61850 (MMS/GOOSE/SMV), DNP, Modbus, IEC103, IEC101, IEC104, PROFINET, PROFIBUS.
• Knowledge of ANSI standards related to Protection and Electrical Panel Design.
• Automation or Protection commissioning experience.
• Factory or Site testing experience in Protection and Automation systems
• Around 5% of travel is expected depending on project assignments and requirements.
• Advanced English level (Able to have technical and business conversations)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of Protection and Automation Systems of Electrical Systems.
• Demonstrated knowledge of UL 508A requirements for protection and automation control panels.
• Applied knowledge of Medium and High Voltage Protection
• Medium voltage protection schemes (including design of transfer schemes and reverse interlocking schemes)
• Generator Protection
• Line Differential and Distance Protection
• Experience in designing Protection and Automation Panels for utilities.
• Professional Engineer license (PE).
• C Programming Language Experience.
• Experience working with Engineering Base (EB) Software-AUCOTEC and the Global Engineering Library (GEL) database for design.
• Experience working with MicroStation Software.
• Experience working with EPLAN.
• Knowledge of ANSI and IEC standards related to Protection and Electrical Panel Design.
