Responsibilities
The Opportunity: EHS Coordinator
Location: Saltillo, Mexico
At PepsiCo, we’re looking for a passionate and experienced professional to lead the implementation of our Global Environment, Health, and Safety Management System (GEHSMS). This role empowers plant personnel and manages both human and material resources to prevent losses—protecting people, facilities, and the environment.
Your Impact
As an EHS Coordinator, your responsibilities will include:
- Promoting and practicing the GEHSMS policy, company code of conduct, and internal procedures.
- Ensuring full compliance with safety and environmental standards, as well as national, international, and PepsiCo‑specific legal requirements.
- Creating a safe work environment that safeguards employee health and prevents occupational injuries and illnesses.
- Leading industrial safety efforts across Manufacturing, Cluster, APT, Traffic, and Administrative areas.
- Developing and enforcing safety plans, procedures, and regulations.
- Overseeing accident investigations and managing related statistics in collaboration with relevant departments.
- Managing contractor and supplier safety activities.
- Implementing PepsiCo’s global sustainability system for occupational health, safety, and environmental protection.
- Maintaining up‑to‑date procedures and internal regulations aligned with STPS, SEMARNAT, OSHA, and PepsiCo standards to avoid regulatory penalties.
- Leading and updating the Emergency Response Plan, empowering brigades (Fire, Evacuation, First Aid, Communication, Energy).
- Training and managing the Joint Safety and Hygiene Commission in coordination with Occupational Health.
- Coordinating GEHSMS work cells and Safety Star Points across the site.
- Overseeing the development and application of ASTs, IPs, safety standards, project evaluations, and environmental studies.
- Delivering EHS training to ensure all personnel have the necessary skills and competencies, in collaboration with the training team.
- Ensuring compliance with PepsiCo’s Food Safety Matrix.
Environmental Management Responsibilities
- Apply methodologies to identify environmental aspects in current, new, and future processes.
- Implement and maintain the Site Environmental, Health, and Safety Management System (SEHSMS).
- Evaluate compliance with legal and other environmental requirements.
- Monitor environmental programs to meet objectives and targets.
- Conduct internal audits of the Environmental Management System and follow up on corrective and preventive actions.
- Manage controlled documents by establishing systems, instructions, and responsibilities for their review, approval, issuance, distribution, and updates.
Qualifications
Who Are We Looking For?
We’re looking for a passionate and experienced safety professional to join our team and help drive PepsiCo’s Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) strategy at our Saltillo site.
Basic Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or Engineering in Industrial Safety, Occupational Health, Environmental Sciences, or related fields.
Technical Knowledge
- 3+ years of experience in industrial safety (preferably in logistics, chemical, or manufacturing environments).
- Strong command of the Global Environment, Health, and Safety Management System (GEHSMS).
- Familiarity with national and international regulations:
- STPS, SEMARNAT, applicable NOMs
- OSHA or equivalent global standards
- Emergency response planning and brigade coordination (fire, evacuation, first aid, communication, energy).
- Accident investigation and incident data analysis.
- Contractor and supplier safety management.
- Intermediate English.
- Development and implementation of ASTs, IPs, safety standards, and environmental studies.
- Identification and evaluation of environmental aspects in new and existing processes.
- Internal audits of the Environmental Management System (EMS) and follow‑up on corrective/preventive actions.
- EHS documentation control.
- Availability to work on‑site in Saltillo.
