Ford México is seeking an EDS Champ intern to collaborate with the EDS Process Team and the Jira EDS Team within Product Creation & Industrialization. You will drive process excellence across the vehicle wire harness lifecycle by applying process mapping, VSM, AI tools, and engineering knowledge to design, create, and industrialize Electrical Distribution Systems (EDS).

• Must be an active student in the last 2 semesters of Electrical, Mechanical, or Mechatronic engineering.

• Interest in AI tools and digital innovation to automate documentation workflows.

Responsabilidades

• Map, analyze, and optimize end-to-end engineering and industrialization workflows for vehicle wire harnesses.
• Apply AI tools, prompt engineering, and automation to aid process documentation and decision-making.
• Support Jira EDS ticket architecture (Program → Milestone → Deliverable) ensuring traceability and alignment with milestones.
• Maintain and enrich the EDS Process Library in Confluence with procedures, templates, and RASIC matrices.
• Collaborate with internal teams and suppliers to support change management and promote process adoption.
• Monitor process feedback, track improvement requests via Jira dashboards, and create onboarding materials.

Job Description

Ford Champs will allow to get to now different business areas through 12 months, while you improve your skills and become a better professional.

As an EDS Ford Champ, you will be responsible of collaborating directly with the EDS Process Team and the Jira EDS Team inside Product Creation & Industrialization to drive process excellence across the vehicle wire harness lifecycle. You will help elevate the EDS community's work to a higher level of excellence by applying process mapping, Value Stream Mapping (VSM), cutting-edge AI tools, and engineering knowledge to design, create, and industrialize automotive Electrical Distribution Systems (EDS).

Responsibilities

• What you´ll do:
• Process & Value Stream Mapping (VSM): Map, analyze, and optimize end-to-end engineering and industrialization workflows for vehicle wire harnesses, identifying efficiency gaps and streamlining delivery cycles.
• AI Tool Integration & Workflow Innovation: Apply modern AI tools, prompt engineering, and intelligent automation to assist in process documentation, workflow standardization, and technical decision-making across the EDS ecosystem.
• Jira EDS Architecture & Operations: Support the execution and maintenance of the EDS Jira ticket architecture (Program → Milestone → Deliverable), ensuring full traceability, auditability, and alignment with GPDS/PDP milestones.
• EDS Process Library & Confluence Management: Maintain, structure, and enrich the EDS Process Library in Confluence—authoring standard procedures, process guides, templates, and RASIC role matrices to serve as the single source of truth.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration & Community Engagement: Collaborate with internal engineering teams, process leads, and external suppliers to support change management initiatives (e.g., Design Change Requests - DCRs) and promote process adoption.
• Metrics, Dashboards & Governance: Monitor process feedback, track improvement requests via Jira dashboards, and create user-friendly onboarding materials and quick-reference guides for the EDS engineering community.

What you´ll need

• Active student from any of the last 2 semesters of Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronic engineering
• 90% English skills (Oral, reading, writing, and listening)
• Strong analytical and communication skills
• Knowledge of or strong interest in Process Mapping, Value Stream Mapping (VSM), and continuous process improvement methodologies.
• Passion for leveraging AI tools and digital innovation to solve engineering challenges and automate documentation workflows.
• Basic understanding of automotive Electrical Distribution Systems (EDS), wire harness design, or vehicle product development (GPDS/PDP).
• Familiarity with collaboration tools such as Jira, Confluence, Microsoft SharePoint, or Visio.
• Proactive mindset, detail-oriented work ethic, and ability to collaborate effectively in cross-functional engineering environments.
