Job summary

SEGULA Technologies in Mexico is seeking proactive Design & Release Engineers to take ownership of propulsion systems and structural components from concept to mass production.

You will design, analyze, test, and release parts using NX and CATIA, coordinate DFMEA/PFMEA with suppliers, and support pilot builds at assembly plants. Fluent English is required.

Hybrid work model with hubs in Santa Fe and Toluca, plus travel opportunities across Mexico, the US, and Canada.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Mechatronics, Automotive, Electro-mechanical, or related) – Must be graduated/licensed (Titulado).
• 1–3 years experience in automotive industry as Product Engineer or product development role, or strong academic project background related to engines, power electronics, or structural/brackets.
• Solid CAD skills in NX and/or CATIA.
• Fluent English required for professional, technical, and conversational use.

Responsibilities

• Design & Release: Use NX (2D/3D) to design, modify, and release automotive commodities and components.
• Testing & Validation: Request, authorize, and evaluate functional, durability, and compliance tests (DVP&R) in assembly plants.
• Supplier & Plant Support: Coordinate DFMEAs/PFMEAs with suppliers, manage Change Notices, and support pilot/pre-series events at plants.
• Problem Solving: Analyze and resolve component-related failures with advanced problem-management processes.
• Continuous Improvement: Propose, validate, and execute cost-reduction and performance benchmarking initiatives.

We are looking for proactive, analytical, and driven Design & Release Engineers (DRE) to join our world-class team in Mexico, supporting major propulsion systems and structural components development.

The Opportunity

Are you a passionate engineer ready to take full ownership of automotive components from concept to mass production? In this role, you will manage the design, specification, testing, validation, and release of vital Propulsion Systems and structural components (such as engine components, power electronics accessories, and brackets).

We welcome recently graduated engineers with strong academic/school project experience in automotive design, as well as experienced Product Engineers looking to elevate their career.

Key Responsibilities

• Design & Release: Utilize NX Software (2D & 3D) to design, modify, and release assigned automotive commodities and components.
• Testing & Validation: Request, authorize, and evaluate required functional, durability, and compliance testing (DVP&R) in assembly plants.
• Supplier & Plant Support: Coordinate DFMEAs/PFMEAs with suppliers, manage Change Notices, and support Pilot/Pre-series events at assembly plants.
• Problem Solving: Analyze and resolve component-related failures using advanced problem-management processes.
• Continuous Improvement: Propose, validate, and execute cost-reduction strategies and benchmark performance, weight, and cost efficiencies.

What We Are Looking For

Basic Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Mechatronics, Automotive, Electro-mechanical, or related) – Must be graduated/licensed (Titulado).
• Experience: * 1 to 3 years of experience in the automotive industry as a Product Engineer or product development-related role.
• OR Strong academic/school project background directly related to Internal Combustion Engines, electric motors, power electronics, or structural/bracket design.
• Software: Solid skills in computer-aided design, specifically NX and/or CATIA.
• Languages: Fluent English (mandatory) for professional, technical, and conversational use.

Preferred Qualifications

• Solid knowledge of Internal Combustion Engines, vehicle systems, thermodynamics, and manufacturing/assembly processes.
• Familiarity with creating and updating DFMEA/PFMEA documentation.
• Strong communication, planning, and presentation skills.
• DFSS (Design for Six Sigma) or Reactive Green Belt / Black Belt certifications are a definite plus.
