Placements24 seeks an Automotive Component Design Engineer in Hermosillo, Sonora, to design, validate and optimize mechanical components for next-generation vehicles. You will use CAD (CATIA/SolidWorks), run simulations, manage drawings and BOMs, and collaborate with global teams to ensure quality and reliability.

The role requires 5+ years in automotive design, strong problem-solving and communication skills, and English fluency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical design, with a significant focus on automotive components.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks) and CAE/FEA tools.
• Strong understanding of automotive systems, manufacturing processes (e.g., stamping, casting, injection molding), and material science.
• Experience with product validation and testing procedures for automotive components.
• Excellent problem-solving capabilities and meticulous attention to detail.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with experience in a hybrid work setting.
• Fluency in English is required for global team interaction.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical components for automotive applications using advanced CAD software.
• Conduct detailed engineering analysis, including stress, thermal, and vibration simulations.
• Create and maintain 3D models, 2D drawings, BOMs and specifications.
• Collaborate with CAE analysts, manufacturing engineers and product managers throughout the lifecycle.
• Oversee prototyping, testing and validation activities and refine designs.
• Support manufacturing engineering in smooth transitions of designs to production.
• Ensure compliance with IATF 16949 and customer requirements.
• Stay updated on emerging automotive technologies and materials.
