Farahi Law Firm seeks a Director of Finance to lead financial strategy across its personal injury practice, overseeing budgeting, cash flow, capital planning, and reporting for pre-litigation and litigation groups with IOLTA compliance at the core.
The role holders will manage lines of credit, litigation funding, and a payments pipeline while supervising finance teams and coordinating with external CPAs. Ten-plus years in finance leadership, CPA or MBA, and advanced Excel are preferred.

The Director of Finance serves as the chief financial strategist and steward at Farahi Law Firm. This role is responsible for capital planning, profitability analysis, financial compliance, cash flow management, and financial reporting across all pre-litigation and litigation practice groups.
Develop annual operating budgets, cash flow forecasts, and long-range financial plans tailored to personal injury contingent-fee business models.
Manage the firm's line of credit (LOC), litigation funding lines, and case cost advances.
Oversee trust accounting (IOLTA) compliance in accordance with State Bar of California regulations.
Oversee medical lien negotiation tracking, settlement disbursement timelines, and reductions tracking to accelerate capital recovery.
Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including profit and loss, balance sheet, and cash flow reports.
Maintain integrations between accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks or Sage) and legal CRM systems.
Partner with external CPA firms on tax planning, annual filings, and regulatory compliance audit oversight.
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics required; CPA or MBA strongly preferred.
Candidates should currently hold, or have previously held, a Director-level role or an equivalent senior leadership position with comparable scope and accountability.
Demonstrated experience leading managers and/or multi-layered teams, owning departmental strategy, establishing performance standards, and being accountable for department-level business outcomes.
Proven responsibility for strategy, people leadership, operational performance, and department-level results.
Advanced Excel modeling skills and proficiency with QuickBooks or Sage.
Experience integrating case management software (e.g., Filevine, Litify, or SmartAdvocate) with financial systems.
Experience with IOLTA compliance.
Average Settlement Realization Days: Days from case settlement to funds collection and distribution.
Operating Cash Runway & Reserve Ratio: Maintenance of target cash liquidity reserves for contingency operations.
Case Cost Recovery Rate: Percentage and speed of advanced case expenses recouped upon case resolution.
Budget vs. Actual Variance: Keeping operational expenses within ±3–5% of approved budget forecasts.
Financial Acumen: Deep mastery of contingency accounting, IOLTA rules, and law firm unit economics.
Strategic Risk Management: Ability to balance firm growth investments with capital safety.
Analytical Precision: Ability to transform complex financial data into actionable insights for executive decision-making.
