FORD MÉXICO in Naucalpan is seeking an Electrical Harness Design engineer to design and release wiring harnesses, lead 3D routing, and collaborate with Systems Engineering. The role involves on-site work at GTBC Ford México and responsibility for APQP processes and warranty-related activities.

The ideal candidate has an electrical engineering degree and 1–2 years in harness design, with strong English skills and Catia V5/3DX proficiency.

Formación

• Engineering degree required, electrical or related discipline.
• 1-2 years in design, development, validation and release of the wiring harnesses.
• Strong English proficiency (written, read, and oral).
• 3D design capability using Catia V5 or 3DX.
• Willingness to travel to suppliers or assembly facilities for APQP and builds.
• Experience in Low Voltage Wiring and vehicle electrical systems.
• Familiarity with GPDS, WERS, and vehicle launch processes.
• Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio).

Responsabilidades

• Design wiring harnesses meeting program cost, weight, quality, performance, and timing targets.
• Lead 3D wire routing and package CAD layout activity.
• Interface with Systems Engineering on schematic development.
• Define wire size/type based on requirements and design rules.
• Drive commonality of designs across programs and platforms.
• Develop and maintain installation illustrations.
• Release parts in Ford System through product life cycle and support Change Control Meetings.
• Participate in vehicle builds and lead issue resolution.
• Manage APQP with STA Partners and on-time part delivery.
• Lead EDS cost analysis/estimates and support reviews.
• Sign off EDS design requirements and design rule checks.

Responsibilities

• Design wiring harnesses complying with program cost, weight, quality, performance, and timing targets.
• 4 days On Site in GTBC FORD MÉXICO (Naucalpan, México)
• Create and maintain harness family complexity.
• Lead 3D wire routing and package CAD layout activity.
• Interface with Systems Engineering on logical and physical schematic development.
• Definition and support of wire size/type selection based on Requirements and Design Rules.
• Utilize best design efficiencies for manufacturing, assembly, and failure mode avoidance practices.
• Issue resolution in Digital and Build Phases of Product Development.
• Create and maintain program specific foundation documents (Boundary Diagrams, Quality History, P-diagram, DFMEA, etc.).
• Drive commonality of designs across multiple programs and platforms.
• Develop and maintain installation illustrations.
• Release parts in Ford System through the product life cycle. Support the Change Control Meeting.
• Complete Technical Design Reviews (TDR’s) with Technical Specialists.
• Manage component and harness APQP with STA Partners and on time part delivery.
• Review pre-production vehicles for potential campaign items and assess warranty impact.
• Participate in vehicle builds and lead resolution of issues.
• Lead resolution of warranty issues with PVT and Supplier.
• Lead EDS cost analysis/estimates and support reviews.
• Define harness to harness in-line connector pinouts and terminal sizing.
• Lead electrical EDS compatibility reviews and sign-off wire harness prints.
• Lead signoff of EDS Design requirements and Design rule checks.

Requirements

• Engineering Degree (electrical) or related disciplines.
• 1-2 years of experience in design, development, validation, and release of the wiring harnesses under her/his responsibility.
• Strong English Proficiency (written, read, and oral).
• Design Capable in 3D via Catia V5 or 3DX.
• Ability to travel to suppliers or assembly facilities to support APQP and build events.
• Low Voltage Wiring Experience.
• Functional knowledge of vehicle electrical system or functional knowledge of vehicle wiring system.
• Working knowledge of vehicle development process (GPDS), change control process (WERS), and vehicle launch experience.
• Microsoft Office Usage (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio)
