Ideal candidates have 4+ years in data engineering, hands-on GCP and Airflow experience, and fluency in Spanish. The role emphasizes performance tuning, DRP, and fintech data expertise.

Formación

• 4+ years as a Data Engineer, Data Platform Engineer, or similar role in high-transaction environments.
• Deep, hands-on experience with GCP and Apache Airflow.
• Advanced proficiency in Python, Bash, and Terraform/Ansible for deployments.
• Strong experience administering MySQL, MongoDB, and distributed databases.
• Expertise in execution plans, query optimization, high availability, and replication.
• Experience in fintech/banking data systems and payment gateways.
• Fluent in Spanish (spoken and technical).

Responsabilidades

• Design, build, and maintain robust ETL/ELT pipelines using Python, Spark, and Apache Airflow.

About the role

At albo, we are looking for a high-performing Data Engineer to manage, optimize, and scale our core financial data infrastructure. You will oversee a unique hybrid environment powering critical services, including Mexico's SPEI payment system. We seek a professional with a performance-first mindset who actively leverages AI tools to accelerate troubleshooting, automate repetitive tasks, and optimize database workloads.

What You’ll Be Doing At Albo

• Data Pipelines & Orchestration: Design, build, and maintain robust, scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using Python, Spark and Apache Airflow to process high volumes of financial data.
• Cloud Data Infrastructure: Architect, deploy, and optimize our data environment on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).
• Database Ecosystem Management: Act as the guardian of our core data storage layer. You will administer, monitor, and scale our hybrid databases: MongoDB and MySQL.
• Mission-Critical SPEI Operations: Guarantee 99.99% availability, disaster recovery (DRP), and seamless data flow for our on-premise MySQL instances.
• Performance & Tuning: Proactively identify data bottlenecks, optimize complex queries, refine indexes, and manage partitioning to ensure millisecond-level latencies across the pipeline and databases.
• AI Acceleration: Integrate Generative AI tools into your daily workflow to speed up data modeling, automate ETL scripting, and analyze infrastructure logs.

About you and the type of skill you'll need

• Experience: 4+ years as a Data Engineer, Data Platform Engineer, or similar role, with foundational knowledge of Database Administration (DBA) in high-transaction environments.
• Cloud & Orchestration: Deep, hands-on experience working with GCP (Cloud Storage, Compute Engine, Cloud SQL/Spanner, etc.) and orchestrating complex workflows with Apache Airflow.
• Data & Automation Skills: Advanced proficiency in Python for data processing, Bash for scripting, and Terraform/Ansible for automated deployments.
• Database Expertise: Strong hands-on experience administering and tuning MySQL, MongoDB, and distributed databases (like SingleStoreDB or similar).
• Performance & Resilience: Expertise in execution plans, query optimization, high availability, and database replication strategies (cross-site replication, Group Replication).
• Fintech/Banking Background: Experience handling critical financial systems, massive transactional data, or payment gateways.
• Language: Fluent in Spanish (both conversational and technical) is a must.

Non-negotiable requirements (must-haves)

• Core Data Engineering Experience: Minimum 4 years of proven experience building data pipelines, automating processes, and managing data infrastructure.
• Cloud & Orchestration Mastery: Solid and demonstrable experience working on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and managing complex task orchestration with Apache Airflow.
• Development & Automation: Advanced proficiency in Python and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, primarily Terraform.
• Database Expertise: Practical experience administering MySQL, MongoDB, and distributed databases. Expert ability to analyze execution plans and optimize queries at the infrastructure level.
• Mission-Critical & High Availability: Proven experience guaranteeing 99.99% uptime, executing Disaster Recovery Plans (DRP), and managing database replication strategies.
• AI-Driven Workflow: Active use of Generative AI tools on a daily basis to create data scripts, optimize queries, or automate repetitive tasks.
• Language: Native or fully fluent Spanish.
