About the Role

The Content Strategist is a crucial, client‑facing role that is responsible for day‑to‑day client deliverables, creating and managing custom client strategies, and communicating both with clients and internal stakeholders. The Strategist is responsible for more Enterprise clients and is expected to have a deep understanding of their service line and how it impacts other areas of business to create a holistic marketing strategy.

Please note: internally, this role is titled Account Strategist, Content & SEO.

What You'll Do
  • Strategic Excellence and Best Practices: Create custom strategies and implement best practices for clients to achieve Directive’s NSMs. Use the project phase as a foundational moment for building the initial client strategy, and continually optimize and revise strategies using client goals, current campaigns, and historical performance, while adhering to Directive best practices.
    • Work closely with Associate Director when roadblocks arise that impact strategy and goal attainment.
    • Craft creative briefs and compelling content campaigns focused on ideation based on competitor and audience insights.
    • Apply best‑practice frameworks, including:
      • LTV:CAC modeling
      • Customer Generation
      • Share of SERP
      • Content Production
  • Goal Setting: Use available data to set and refine client goals during the engagement. Review and approve goals with the Associate Director before presenting to the client.
    • Data sources include Google Analytics, CRM data, SEMrush reporting, and Ahrefs reporting.
    • All goals must be approved by the Associate Director before presentation to clients.
  • Project Management: Ensure strategic plans are executed. Use Asana to delegate tasks to team members, content writers, designers, and clients, and monitor completion.
    • Partner with Project Managers to create, assign, and manage tasks and due dates.
    • Collaborate with content writers and designers to deliver campaigns on time and with client‑acceptable quality.
  • Internal and External Communication: Serve as the main interface between clients and the team. Build relationships beyond deliverables, maintaining client standards and communicating regularly.
    • Communicate timeline expectations, goal progress, and deliverables via Slack and regular cadence between bi‑weekly meetings.
    • Report roadblocks, growth opportunities, and account changes to internal leadership.
  • Reporting: Provide regular client updates on strategy progress and impact.
    • Bi‑weekly meetings to report NSM progress and ongoing deliverables.
    • Monthly reports.
    • Quarterly reports.
    • 2 bi‑annual business review presentations.
What You'll Bring
  • A proven track record of success implementing SEO principles and content strategy: keyword research, on‑page optimization, and link building.
  • Analytical insight: ability to analyse website traffic and SEO metrics using tools like Google Analytics.
  • Strong communication skills: comfortable client‑facing and owning relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Strong familiarity with industry tools such as Google Search Console, Google Analytics, SEMrush, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog and other crawling tools.
  • Proven organisational, project, and time‑management skills.
  • Genuine enthusiasm for digital marketing, SEO and content.
  • Must have agency experience.
  • Must have B2B tech and/or SaaS experience.

  • Upsells / Cross‑sells / Referrals
    • Identify opportunities for clients to grow their business within and beyond existing service lines.
    • Examples: expand into another service line such as SEO or Paid Media; increase budget for current service lines.

  • Client maintains a 5‑point CSAT score.

Work Environment Requirements

As a remote‑first company, you’ll have the ability to work from anywhere in the US, with the option to enjoy our state‑of‑the‑art offices in Irvine, California. For some positions, we will accommodate global opportunities in Canada, the UK, and Australia. For global locations, you must have established and current work authorization and permanently reside in that country.

This role operates 100% virtually from your home office. Collaboration occurs primarily through virtual meetings (Zoom) and Slack. You will be required to operate a laptop (PC or Mac), other productivity tools as necessary, remain stationary for extended periods, observe and interpret communication, have reliable internet, and provide a professional background.
