A leading aerospace company in Mexicali seeks a Tooling Engineering Manager to drive CNC process design and team leadership. The role involves improving manufacturing processes, handling resource allocation, and implementing continuous improvement strategies to enhance efficiency and quality standards.
In charge of team building and providing technical leadership for CNC process and fixture design. Drives strategy and development of the business’s site solutions. Develops and implements engineering strategies for the development of technological tools and processes. Performs engineering design evaluations to ensure completion within resource and budget constraints.
Manages a team of engineers supporting various aspects of tooling design and fabrication to improve manufacturing processes, process capability, maturity, product cost, and efficiency. Responsible for maintaining day-to-day activities in CNC areas and supervising staff involved in machining and tool fabrication to meet quality standards and customer expectations.
Ensures the department staff have the necessary tools, technical information, materials, training, and resources to perform their duties effectively. Works collaboratively to identify and solve problems, document root causes, implement corrective actions, and report results to management. Provides recommendations to reduce scrap and enhance process stability.
Focuses on continuous improvement through data-driven approaches to stabilize processes, increase repeatability, control, labor efficiency, and reduce scrap and rework costs. Implements new tooling, jigs, and fixtures to eliminate waste and improve efficiency. Updates tooling procedures to ensure compliance with AS9100 standards and introduces new methods and technologies to streamline processes.
Supports new program tooling cost estimates and NPI activities. Plans, allocates resources, and directs activities to meet schedules, standards, and costs.
