Job Summary

We are looking for a detail-oriented Payroll Analyst to support our Canada payroll operations. The ideal candidate will play a key role in executing accurate and timely payroll processing, ensuring compliance with federal and provincial regulations, and partnering with internal stakeholders to support system enhancements, reporting, and audits. This role requires strong analytical skills, experience with payroll systems (Workday, ADP, Ceridian, or similar), and a deep understanding of Canadian payroll legislation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Payroll Operations: Process end-to-end semi-monthly and monthly payrolls for Canadian employees in compliance with employment standards and company policies. Validate earnings, deductions, taxable benefits, and final payouts. Review payroll inputs from HRIS, Time & Attendance systems, and manual adjustments. Reconcile payroll prior to transmission and validate outputs to ensure accuracy.
  • System & Data Management: Act as a liaison between Payroll and HRIS/IT teams to support configuration, testing, and optimization of payroll-related systems. Maintain and update employee payroll data in HRIS and vendor platforms. Participate in system UAT (User Acceptance Testing) during upgrades and new feature rollouts. Identify automation opportunities to improve process efficiency and data accuracy.
  • Reporting & Analytics: Prepare regular and ad hoc payroll reports (e.g., payroll summaries, costing reports, tax reports, reconciliation files). Support internal stakeholders (Finance, HR, Tax) with payroll data for audits, planning, and forecasting. Track payroll KPIs such as error rate, processing time, and compliance metrics.
  • Compliance & Controls: Ensure payroll processing aligns with federal and provincial laws (CRA, CNESST, WSIB, etc.). Maintain audit trails and support year-end activities, including T4 and RL-1 slip generation. Stay current with legislative updates and apply changes accordingly. Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
Qualifications
  • 3–5 years of Canadian payroll experience, with proven expertise in full-cycle payroll processing.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation and statutory requirements.
  • Experience with HRIS/payroll systems (Workday, ADP, SAP, Ceridian, or equivalent).
  • Proficiency in Excel (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, reconciliations).
