Job summary

Sulzer is seeking a Senior Procurement/ Sourcing professional to strategically manage the sourcing of materials, components, and services to maintain business continuity while optimizing total cost, quality, inventory, and service performance.

You will lead negotiations with key suppliers, drive productivity initiatives, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to support financial and operational objectives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, International Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Procurement and Supply Management - Manage procurement of direct/indirect materials and services; ensure material availability and monitor supply plans to prevent shortages.
• Strategic Supplier Management - Build relationships with key suppliers; evaluate performance on quality, delivery, cost and service; lead supplier selection and development.
• Negotiation and Productivity - Lead pricing, contracts and terms negotiations; implement cost reduction initiatives and optimize Total Cost of Ownership.
• Inventory Management - Work with Planning and Operations to optimize inventory; reduce obsolete and slow-moving stock; review safety stock and lead times.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration - Partner with Planning, Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Finance and Logistics; support escalation and continuous improvement.

About the role

Strategically manage the sourcing and procurement of materials, components, and services to ensure business continuity while optimizing total cost, quality, inventory levels, and service performance. Lead negotiations with key suppliers, drive productivity initiatives, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to support the company's financial and operational objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Procurement and Supply Management - Manage the procurement of assigned direct materials, indirect materials, and/or services. Ensure material availability in accordance with production and customer demand requirements. Monitor and execute supply plans to prevent shortages and minimize excess inventory. Manage purchase orders and ensure compliance with supplier delivery commitments.
• Strategic Supplier Management - Develop and maintain strategic relationships with key suppliers. Evaluate supplier performance through quality, delivery, cost, and service metrics. Lead supplier selection, qualification, and development processes. Identify dual-sourcing opportunities and implement supply risk mitigation strategies. Monitoring of supplier payment processing.
• Negotiation and Productivity - Lead negotiations for pricing, contracts, and commercial terms. Implement cost reduction initiatives and improve Total Cost of Ownership (TCO). Develop business case frameworks. Identify opportunities for standardization, supplier consolidation, and specification optimization. Participate in new product introduction projects and/or material - engineering change initiatives.
• Inventory Management - Collaborate with Planning and Operations teams to optimize inventory levels. Drive initiatives to reduce obsolete and slow-moving inventory. Participate in reviews of planning parameters such as safety stock, MOQ (Minimum Order Quantity), and supplier lead times.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration - Work closely with Planning, Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Finance, and Logistics teams. Support supply escalation activities and crisis management efforts. Participate in continuous improvement and supply chain transformation initiatives.

• Annual cost savings and cost avoidance.
• Supplier On-Time Delivery (OTD) performance.
• Material availability.
• Inventory reduction and slow-moving inventory management.
• Purchase price variance.
• Supplier lead-time performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, International Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
• 5 to 8 years of experience in purchasing, sourcing, or procurement.
• Proven experience negotiating with domestic and international suppliers.
• Knowledge of material planning and inventory management.
• Experience in manufacturing, automotive, electronics, or industrial environments, as applicable.
• Technical Knowledge Procurement and Strategic Sourcing. Commercial negotiation and contract management. Supply Chain Management. Inventory management. ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, JDE, or similar). Advanced Excel and data analysis skills.
