The Incentives Development team drives innovation and excellence in every project, blending technical expertise with creative problem-solving to deliver a best-in-class user experience.

As a Staff Backend Software Developer, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team working on Varicent Incentives, a single-page web application using React and Redux that connects to a REST API written in C#, hosted in AWS.

🔧 What You’ll Do

  • Build new features for the REST API and enhance the AWS infrastructure on a modern tech stack using C# and AWS CloudFormation.
  • Collaborate with product management, designers, and QA to implement new features and enhancements.
  • Participate in the pull request review process to ensure high code quality and share insights with the team.
  • Optimize application performance for scalability and low latency across large datasets.
  • Develop features using AWS tools such as Lambda, S3, DynamoDB, and Redshift.
  • Automate deployments and CI/CD pipelines using Infrastructure-as-Code technologies.
  • Identify and resolve bottlenecks to maintain high availability and uptime.

Technical Skills:

  • 7+ years of backend development experience, focused on data-intensive applications.
  • Proficiency in at least one backend language (C#, Java, C++).
  • Experience with AWS services (EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, Redshift).
  • Understanding of ELT/ETL processes and challenges with large-scale data.
  • Strong software design fundamentals and problem-solving skills.
  • English communication skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams (B2 level English or higher).
  • Familiarity with development processes, codebase, coding standards, and tools.
  • Ability to work in team meetings, communicate progress, and collaborate effectively.
  • Ability to complete small well-defined tasks or bug fixes to demonstrate coding ability.
  • Growing independence in handling tasks with reduced supervision and guidance.
  • Capacity to take on more complex assignments and features.
  • Strong troubleshooting and issue resolution capabilities.
  • Commitment to coding standards, well-documented, maintainable code, and code reviews.
  • Collaborative mindset and constructive input during discussions.
  • Lead development of a larger feature or service critical to the ICM application.
  • Ensure scalability and reliability through testing and performance tuning.
  • Understanding of critical parts of the application and ability to troubleshoot defects with minimal assistance.
  • Meet project deadlines and deliver high-quality work.
  • Continuous learning and awareness of industry trends and technologies.
  • Identify areas for process improvement and suggest efficiency enhancements.
  • Participate in roadmap discussions and cost estimation for future work.
  • Candidates are hired directly by Varicent.
  • Role requires working within Eastern Standard Time (EST) business hours; flexibility to align with EST for collaboration.
  • This position is fully remote, with the ability to work from anywhere and a focus on results, collaboration, and autonomy.
