Darwin Recruitment is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to support a high-traffic consumer web platform as it migrates to AWS. You will help modernise and harden systems, and build internal tooling that speeds up how engineers ship code, including AI agents in the delivery workflow.

You will contribute across SDLC, define multi-account AWS strategies, and ensure robust monitoring and testing integration. This is a remote 100% contract role with a 12-month scope and freelance arrangement.

Formación

• 8+ years deploying and supporting high-traffic, scalable web apps and services.
• 5+ years working in an AWS serverless environment (Cognito, Lambda, Step Functions, DynamoDB).
• Strong TypeScript skills and hands-on experience with the AWS CDK.
• Proficient shell scripting (Linux/Unix) and scripting (Python/Ruby or similar).
• Hands-on experience with configuration/deployment tooling and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience defining multi-account AWS strategies and using AWS Organizations.
• Exposure to monitoring tools and building reliable pipelines.
• Familiarity with AI coding agents and agentic engineering workflows.

Project focus

Join a growing engineering team supporting a high-traffic consumer web platform as it migrates its infrastructure to AWS. You'll help modernise and harden the systems that deliver the platform to customers, build internal tooling that speeds up how engineers ship code (including tooling that brings AI agents into the development and operations workflow), and support a WordPress-based site at scale.

Key skills and Experience required

• 8+ years deploying and supporting high-traffic, scalable web applications and services
• 5+ years working in an AWS serverless environment (Cognito, Lambda, Step Functions, DynamoDB)
• Strong TypeScript skills and hands-on experience with the AWS CDK
• Proficient scripting ability (Linux/Unix shell, Python, Ruby, or similar)
• Hands-on experience with configuration management and deployment tooling
• Strong CI/CD expertise across native AWS services and third-party tools, including building pipelines and Git competency
• Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC)
• Experience defining multi-account AWS strategies using Amazon Organizations
• Experience integrating SCM, code quality, code coverage, and testing tools into CI/CD pipelines
• Exposure to application and infrastructure monitoring tooling
• Comfortable forecasting AWS billing using the pricing calculator
• Practical experience working with AI coding agents and agentic engineering workflows as part of a modern delivery pipeline
• Familiarity with Spec Driven Development for implementation, testing, and AI agent behaviour
• Hands-on experience with AWS services including Serverless, CDK, CloudFormation, CodePipeline, GitHub/GitHub Actions, Lambda/Step Functions, SQS, SNS, Kinesis, DynamoDB, EventBridge, X-Ray, CloudWatch, WAF, and Lake Formation
• Experience with MySQL and Elasticsearch
• AWS Certified DevOps Engineer or AWS Certified Solutions Architect a plus
• Experience in a consumer-focused technology company a plus
• Domain knowledge in automotive, two-sided marketplaces, or e-commerce a plus
