QUALCOMM SEMICONDUCTORES Y SISTEMAS AVANZADOS DE BAJA CALIFORNIA is seeking a Test Engineer to support bring up of system level test hardware platforms and automation of software test modules in the Automotive Product and Test Engineering group.

You will work with HW, SW, and design teams across regions to develop test strategies, perform validation, and ensure production readiness for high-volume SOCs used in IVI, ADAS, and Telematics.

Formación

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical/ Electronics/ Computer Engineering or related field.
  • 0–3 years of system or bench-level testing experience in mobile/ automotive contexts.
  • Understanding of computer architecture and OS (Android, Windows, Linux, RTOS).
  • Experience with embedded systems and SoC-level testing concepts.
  • Ability to develop or execute test cases for processors, graphics, memory, thermal, and power of SoCs.
  • Ability to read specifications, create test plans, and use test sequencers.
  • Familiarity with Perforce or Git.

General Summary:

The Product Development and Test Engineering organization supports design validation, silicon characterization, production test development, and high-volume manufacturing readiness for leading-edge products built on advanced semiconductor process technologies.

The Automotive Product and Test Engineering group is responsible for the various phases in the lifecycle of integrated SOC’s and QAM’s used in IVI, ADAS & Telematics automotive applications. The selected candidate will support the new product introduction (NPI) to production and return material analysis. This includes verification & validation, characterization, qualification, development of high-volume manufacturing solutions, and customer support. The selected candidate will work with global cross functional teams (SW, System and HW Design, Test, Operations and other engineering organizations) to provide engineering test solutions to drive products to commercialization and production manufacturing.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Responsibilities for this position include supporting bring up of new system level test (SLT) HW platforms and handler solutions, development and automation of SW test modules, test program integration, optimization of test modules for stability and validation across temperature, developing/executing test strategies and test plans, troubleshooting/analyzing problems, performing systems correlation for power and thermal, evaluating and qualifying HW solutions, debug and failure analysis, and customer support.
  • Collaborates with teams (e.g., design, verification, validation, software and systems engineering, architecture development teams, etc.) to support implementing new requirements and incorporate the latest test solutions in the production program to improve the yield, test time, and quality.
  • Evaluates, characterizes, and develops the manufacturing solutions for leading edge products and bring-up product to meet customer expectations and schedules.
  • Evaluates reliability of materials, properties, and techniques and brings innovation, automation, and optimization to maximize productivity.
  • Assists in the assessment of complex design features to identify potential flaws, compatibility issues, and/or compliance issues.
  • Writes detailed technical documentation for hardware projects.
  • Works with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to convey information. May require basic negotiation, influence, tact, etc. Must be outspoken and self motivated.
  • Tasks require multiple steps which can be performed in various orders; some planning, problem-solving, and prioritization must occur to complete the tasks effectively.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 0-3 years of experience in system or bench-level testing, preferably within mobile, automotive, IoT, or microprocessor industries
  • Understanding of computer architecture and operating systems (Android, Windows, Linux, or RTOS)
  • Experience with embedded systems and SoC-level testing concepts
  • Ability to develop or execute test cases for processors, graphics, memory, thermal behavior, and power performance of SoCs
  • Experience reading specifications, creating test plans, and using test sequencers.
  • Familiarity with source control systems such as Perforce or Git.
  • Programming experience in one or more of the following languages: C, C++, Python, C#, or .NET.
  • Hands‑on experience with lab measurement tools such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and power supplies.
  • Ability to collect, analyze, interpret, and summarize test data
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional engineering teams and communicate technical information clearly.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with debugging or triage using Android debugging tools, JTAG, Lauterbach, or Trace32.
  • Understanding of Android system architecture and boot process.
  • Familiarity with system‑level benchmarks such as Dhrystone and DOU.
  • Relevant academic work, projects, or internships in silicon validation, embedded systems, or hardware bring‑up.
